Currently very happy with Hummvee zip offs, which offer the best of both worlds. However, I'd like to avoid being a tick magnet now the ferns are getting bigger and Hummvees zipped-on are too warm. Any recommendations for something more lightweight?

With the dharco pants you can buy leg extenders which you just get a local sewing shop to attach for you.

I wear a 2x but had to go up to 3x for the waist to fit, so the pants I believe run small but are very long. Good luck!

Take a look at Revolution Race outdoor trousers. Not specific for mtb, but their standard lengths are much longer than uk.lengths and the quality of the gear is top notch

Fjällräven also has trousers in different lenghts. I don't think they have biking-specific models, but I have ridden many a km in my pairs. I have both the Kapaq and Keb models, both pairs now quite worn. Hence, I bought the Norrøna Fjørå last autumn.

I've been wearing Revolution Race for the last few years.
I have the Nordwand pro (get worn most often for doing all kinds of jobs), Cyclone rescue (3l waterproof) and a couple of other lighter weight pants for summer that i can't rememeber the name of.
[edit] Hyper pro, which are no longer listed.

[edit2] just searched my emails and realised i've had the Nordwand and Hyper pants since Dec 2019 and got the cyclone in Oct 2020 so they seem to be fairly durable.
