I’ve done just over 1,500km on a DYU A5 now in UK conditions.

Rain, cold mornings, rough roads, short commutes, the lot.

The biggest things I’ve learned are:

Range claims are always optimistic.

Cold weather makes a real difference.

Small wheels take getting used to.

Battery care matters more than people think.

Storage matters as well.

Leaving an e-bike outside long term is asking for problems.

I’m curious what everyone else has found after owning a cheaper e-bike for a while.

What’s held up well?

And what failed sooner than expected?

Hi David,

Nice list, I mostly agree wth you.

My main lesson is that e-bikes and bycicles don't mix: it is unlikely that something I can do with one can be done with the other with the same fun. And viceversa.
