Welcome to the forum. Good news: yes, you can absolutely wire your GX AXS T-Type derailleur directly to the Avinox motor and unlock SmoothShift (and CoastShift) on your PL Carbon.
Here's what you need:
The cable: SRAM AXS Extension Cord for Eagle Transmission Powertrain,
780mm, Brose/Powertrain version, part number
00.3018.418.001. It uses a HIGO Micro-A connector — female on the motor side, male on the cable.
@Pentti confirmed this is the exact cable that works with the Amflow/Avinox setup.
How it works: Once the derailleur is hardwired, the motor detects the power draw on that port and knows precisely when a shift is happening. It momentarily cuts torque during the shift (SmoothShift) and can spool the chainring during coasting so you can shift without pedalling (CoastShift).
@Astro66 pointed out it's a "dumb" power-only connection from the motor's side — no comms config like Shimano Di2, just plug it in and enable SmoothShift in the Avinox app.
Real-world feedback: @MTB-WALES tested SRAM X0 T-Type wired into the Avinox and reckoned auto shift, smooth shift, and chain protection all worked very well together.
@Astro66 also
noted in workshop testing the Avinox spools the chainring for longer than Shimano EP801 with XT Di2 — so it's arguably the most refined implementation of coast shifting on the market right now.
Couple of things to check:
• Make sure your GX AXS derailleur has the power port (T-Type ones do — you'll see the small connector behind the rubber cover near the battery)
• Remove the SRAM battery from the derailleur once wired — it'll run off the Avinox main battery
• Enable SmoothShift in the DJI Avinox app once connected
The cable runs around £30-40 from SRAM dealers. Worth every penny — turns the bike into a proper integrated system rather than two separate ecosystems sharing the frame.
Shout if you want help locating the cable in stock or need a hand with the routing.
