We have watch lists, can we have snooze or hide threads options please? I’m looking at you, Avinox and derestriction threads….

I must say, I joined this forum for some sound, reasonable and varied discussion threads, and there are a few of these in amongst the chaff.

I have to say however, that’s it’s now migrated to predominantly an Avinox and motor derestriction forum. It’s seems two out of every three threads are now on these two topics and it’s bewildering. Please mods, can you bring a function in to hide any threads you have no interest in?

TIA.

Not too many years back, it seems like there was an inordinately heavy number of threads focused on all things Levo related. The market has evolved. Now the Avinox is all the rage and the Levo is old news. Guess there’s always going to be a hot new product that takes up a lot of the oxygen in the room. I suppose I should be happy that so many people are excited about a product.

I personally have no desire to read anything Avinox or de-restriction related, as it just doesn’t remotely suit my interests, and I too find myself mildly frustrated at the overwhelming number of Avinox threads to screen out recently. I’ve previously searched through the forum’s menus trying to find some way to filter them out, but no luck. I would support this feature too. Someday soon the focus will shift to the next great innovation and I can be a crotchety old bastard about that as well. 😜

This forum just needs a separate bosch owners “safe space.” Where you guys can just go ham on avinox without anyone disagreeing with you. Get all your frustration out.

Lol. Just messing.

Put the person who started the thread on ignore, and the thread disappears. It's how I make the Spam Bots disappear.

As a paying subscriber. I do not want any filtering.

Well, obviously we had the new Avinox update recently, which led to several new bikes being released at the same time.

This in turn caused there to be lots of threads being regularly updated about either this system or bikes with this system.

If you take a snapshot of "What's New" from this morning for example, there's a vast array of topics, not just Avinox threads.

Agreed though, threads from derestricting, probably shouldn't be showing in the what's new thread so we'll look at removing those.

Remember, you can click on Forums and choose which areas you actually want to look at if you have specific interests.

I think that screen shot supported my stance tbh. The issue seems to be that every man and his dog seems to want to start their very own Avinox thread, and nearly every Bosch thread about power gets saddled with Avinox users saying how Avinox is better. It may well be, but I’ve bought a Bosch bike and I’m not selling it anytime soon so just give it a rest!

As for choosing specific areas and topics, that’s all fine but I do enjoy the wide ranging topics so that’s not really a solution. Maybe just have an Avinox sub section, where all Avinox threads go? Good plan with the derestriction threads. Keep them in the naughty corner.

ok, so "derestricting" threads won't appear in the "what's new" feed anymore, good call.

As for blocking "avinox" threads, to be brutally honest, you only have to scroll past them - it's not like you have to read the whole thread before you can read the one you want to read ? Yes, there are a higher number than average at the moment, but it's new, so there's interest in it.

As for it being mentioned in other threads, yes, we try to moderate around this. The complicated thing is that invariably it's not an avinox fan boy that brings it up, it's normally someone who throws it in defensively from people with no experience - which leads to responses from people who actually have experience presenting real world facts.

In the recent Bosch update thread we tried to delete all the power/comparison chat to keep it about the actual update rather than it drifting off into the usual power limits arguments, which have been done over and over and invariably include the word avinox -but then we get accused of censorship - everyone has different views and opinions - it's impossible to block or delete every post that someone might not like or agree with or there would be zero posts left.

It’s not a case of liking or disagreeing, it’s about keeping the forum relevant to the member. If I could just click, “snooze” or “hide” when there is something not of and never will be of interest, that would be great.

Unfortunately, and it seems to be the same with most forums, there are a few big hitters that seem to dominate threads and bring in their own agendas. Thinking about it, I must use the block feature more…

The variety of threads isn't the issue - it's that threads all go off-topic

This forum is excellent. When I was younger I ran various forums in the motorsport world and the shift to facebook taking over was IMO horrible. Forums are searchable, they contain technical and teaching info for years.

But don't let it decend into facebook/reddit territory. Most of the threads specifically about bosch updates just get the usual "Avinox is better" derailment and then back and forth arguments. I doubt the vast majority care.
I don't care about xbox vs playstation, I don't care about iphone vs android, I don't care about the people who want to wheelie up a hill at 30mph on a derestricted e-moto.

Absolutely allow bosch vs avinox threads, people who don't care can ignore them, but threads should stay on topic.

The massive win for mountain biking, regardless of if it's an emtb or an analogue, a shimano, brose, bosch or avinox - is that you're getting out, getting exercise, improving mental health. Some people are happy doing a XC ride, others like climbing tech. There's no reason to bash other peoples bike choices just to feel more secure about your own.

There's a group of riders in my riding circle who are loaned/credit carded up to the eyeballs to buy M1 bikes last year and now M2S bikes this year, and constantly just send whatsapp videos of them timing 0-30mph runs up hills. I don't ride with them and have them muted. If that's what gets them up in the morning fine, but I work 70hr weeks in a high stress director role. My time off is about getting out and enjoying the ride not about comparing who has the most power.

Sorry. But I rate this site as one of the best for sticking to helpful information. Not sure why people can't just scroll past the odd chaff, and just get the information they need. Or just filter it themselves. Moderation has been very well done, IMO.

I am soooooo grateful of it's existence. The improvement to my EMTB lifestyle is amazing. It's literally the only thing on the internet I pay a subscription for.

^^^^ This.
Just click on 'Watch thread' on any thread you fancy & then hit the forums drop down & click on 'watched threads'. Sorted.
^^^^ And this. Filter out the noise yourself. Use the report button when things get out of control.

Its pretty chill here compared to other MTB forums, nearly all topics are about bikes (ebikes), parts and help. More so, no ebike haters and hecklers. Just scroll and open what you want, if you don't like it, move on.
Its a breath of fresh air to see 99% of topics about bikes, the 'lounge' and 'wasteland' haven't much interest, so no politics, religion or world affairs.
We're here for bikes, click on 'whats new' and the first 50 will all be bike related... if the brand doesn't excite you, don't open it.
I think the OP's point is that frequently repeated threads about the same brands effectively crowd out other threads.
