I came across third-party extender offered by Volabike and compared to Bosch's Powermore it has way higher capacity for the price and weight - the 640wh extender is actually lighter than the 625wh Powertube. However, I'm worried the weight savings are due to durability of the case, and it might get damaged in a crash or something. They also offer either direct battery connection, or connecting like Powermore, but I didn't find info how the latter works - does the bike just see it as Powermore battery?
