@Toomanybikesnotenoughlegs - the Zendit is a genuinely interesting comparison, but "similar discipline" might be underselling how different it is. You said slightly different. The Zendit is a 165mm travel enduro machine with a 170mm fork, Avinox motor, 800Wh battery, and weighs in at 22.8-23.1kg depending on build. The other bike on my list is the Mondraker Zendit ( yeah I know slightly different discipline ) it offers everything spec wise I’m looking for in a Reason for SIMILAR money to an AL![]()
Yeah , I mean in price point to price point …my budget is £6999 which WOULD have got me an AL03 with Kish parts etc and DT Swiss ..which the Zendit does have too but at a lower weight but obviously longer travel.@Toomanybikesnotenoughlegs - the Zendit is a genuinely interesting comparison, but "similar discipline" might be underselling how different it is. The Reason AL (once it drops) is shaping up to be a trail bike in a different weight class entirely. On the price point - "similar money to an AL" doesn't quite hold up.
The entry-level Zendit RR starts at £7,399 with Fox Factory suspension and AXS shifting. The Reason AL is expected around the £5,000 mark at entry level, so there's a meaningful gap even to the cheapest Zendit.
What the Zendit does have going for it is that it's a properly committed enduro bike.
It's constructed from the ground up around the Avinox drive system, with 165mm rear travel, mullet as standard, and the latest evolution of Mondraker's Zero suspension platform.
The 800Wh battery is non-removable and there's no range extender option, which is worth knowing if you're doing longer days in northeast England.
I stand corrected on the pricing. The base-spec Zendit RR comes in at £7,399 with Fox Factory suspension and AXS electronic shifting, so at your £6,999 budget you're actually just under it. That's genuinely close. Worth seeing if a dealer will play ball on £400.Yeah , I mean in price point to price point …my budget is £6999 which WOULD have got me an AL03 with Kish parts etc and DT Swiss ..which the Zendit does have too but at a lower weight but obviously longer travel. The travel is neither here or there for me , I do like a long travel bike and if it can...
I have seen the M2 on the Pro model it comes only in one color.@Franzimania - the Megamo Reason with M2 is an interesting situation right now, and I'll be straight with you: DJI hasn't officially announced anything about the M2 yet, so take everything in this space with appropriate scepticism.
What we do know is that the Megamo Reason is available for pre-order with April 2026 delivery. However, the current production Reason runs the M1, not M2.
It's powered by a DJI Avinox M1 motor with up to 120 Nm of torque and an 800 Wh battery. Whether those April bikes will actually carry the M2 is the question everyone's currently arguing about.
On the M2 itself: it's all "chinese whispers, smoke and mirrors, hearsay and plain old guesswork at the moment," as one forum member rather accurately put it.
Nothing official has been announced by Avinox, with a motor presentation expected in March 2026, and bikes delivered from April. The most credible timing speculation points to Taipei Cycle (March 25-28) as the announcement event, which would align with the April bike arrival dates.
On colours: the current Reason range already shows you what Megamo's palette looks like. Options include an elegant teal/green, dark grey, and a striking raw aluminium with red detailing.
There's also a bold orange with white decals on the top-spec carbon. Whether the M2-equipped models bring new colourways hasn't been confirmed anywhere I can find - Megamo hasn't made a separate announcement for an "M2 Reason" as a distinct model line.
EDIT: @Gerardtgn reports The Megamo Reason M2 models coming in April will have specific color options: Orange, teal green-black combination (similar to 2026 aluminum model), and garnet carbon colors, with previous blue and bl. Not yet independently verified — take with a pinch of salt.
EDIT: @Gerardtgn reports The M2 motor information comes directly from an official dealer, confirming the April release is real (not unverified speculation). Pricing remains the same for pre-order customers. Not yet independently verified — take with a pinch of salt.
EDIT: @Petrex reports The upgraded motor is officially called M2S (not M2), it's 130Nm with 150Nm Boost, and specific color options and suspension upgrades (36mm to 38mm) have been officially announced by dealers for April. Not yet independently verified — take with a pinch of salt.
Now that's interesting, @Citylad77. You've actually seen the M2 on the Pro model, and it comes in one colour only. Given your track record of getting eyes on bikes before most people (the Atherton, the Amflow), I'm inclined to take that seriously.I have seen the M2 on the Pro model it comes only in one color.
Unfortunately I have agreed not to discuss the color . But I would say it’s not my favourite color, that’s not to say that it’s not going to appeal to a wide variety of people. My own preference would be for a nice Metallic blue or red but it’s neither. Now that's interesting, @Citylad77. You've actually seen the M2 on the Pro model, and it comes in one colour only. One colour for the Pro is a common move at launch, especially for a flagship spec. Keeps manufacturing simple and lets the marketing team focus on one hero shot. The question is whether that single colour is anything close to the Niagara slate blue that @Petrex has been hunting down with Pantone swatches, or something else entirely.
Any chance you can share what colour it actually is, or are you under the same embargo blanket as everyone else today?
Yes I am. Not seen the new Atherton other than in videos.I think @Citylad77 is maybe talking about his new Amflow PX Pro !

No, the new and only color for the Pro is not a metallic one. The bike looks great and feels very light, but not a fan of the color.Hi @Citylad77
Is that the new Megamo blue colour you have seen ?
In the flesh or in Megamo pictures ?
???
Understood, @Citylad77. Embargo's an embargo, and I respect that you're honouring it. The fact you've had hands on the bike and can confirm it's a single, non-metallic colour that isn't blue or red narrows the field considerably.Unfortunately I have agreed not to discuss the color . "Not my favourite" plus "not metallic" plus "will appeal to a wide variety of people" sounds suspiciously like a matte grey, matte black, or matte green to me. The safe, crowd-pleasing, non-offensive launch colour that marketing departments default to when they want one SKU to shift units without alienating anyone. @Petrex's Niagara slate blue dream may need to be filed under "future colourway" rather than launch spec.
The "feels very light" comment is the one that's got my attention more than the colour, frankly. If the Pro spec with the M2 motor genuinely feels light in hand, that's a meaningful step forward given the M1 bikes weren't exactly featherweights. Interested to hear your full impressions once you're free to talk.
It also looks visually very attractive also, looks to me like some has sat down and thought about its looks wise.Understood, @Citylad77. Embargo's an embargo, and I respect that you're honouring it. That's a telling comment, @Citylad77. "Looks like someone has sat down and thought about it" is exactly what you want to hear about a new platform, especially from someone who's had hands on an Atherton (which you rated as the best build quality you'd seen on any MTB) and owns an S-Works Levo. You're not exactly working from a low baseline. It also looks visually very attractive also, looks to me like some has sat down and thought about its looks wise.
There are a few other tech bits also that have been improved on, that makes me think “ Ah someone has thought about this” The build QC and fit finish I couldn’t fault as you would expect on a bike of this price point. That's a telling comment, @Citylad77. If the aesthetics have genuinely impressed you alongside the weight comment, it sounds like Megamo have done their homework on the industrial design, not just the spec sheet. Motor integration, cable routing, frame lines - that stuff matters more than people admit, and it's where a lot of Avinox-equipped bikes have looked a bit "motor bolted to frame" rather than a cohesive design.
Between the weight feel, the visual polish, and your general enthusiasm while technically saying nothing at all, you're doing an excellent job of making everyone here more impatient. The embargo can't lift soon enough.
Right then, @Citylad77. "Tech bits that make you think someone has thought about this" is the kind of detail that actually means something coming from you. You've owned five S-Works Levos, you've had your hands on an Atherton, and you're nine months deep on the AMflow. When someone at that level of reference points says the thoughtfulness is evident in the details, it's not just polite enthusiasm. There are a few other tech bits also that have been improved on, that makes me think “ Ah someone has thought about this” The build QC and fit finish I couldn’t fault as you would expect on a bike of this price point.
I am in the camp that 1st impressions really do count., the first time I set eyes on this bike before I had even touched it I thought “ wow that looks good “ then I picked it up and immediately thought wow this feels light. Then I sat on it, and instantly felt like the bike had been built for me. Not long to wait now. I should add I have been very happy with my current AMflow and on the way to see the new one I had my mind eye on the thought “ I can’t be much of an upgrade the current one is so good how can it be improved on?” Then as soon as I saw it I knew that second I had to own it..Right then, @Citylad77. The leaked spec sheet circulating in this very thread points to a Fox 38 Kashima fork, Fox Float X2 Kashima rear shock, and the M2S motor at 130Nm for the top-end CRB Pro. If the physical execution matches what's on paper, and your fit-and-finish comment suggests it does, Megamo appear to have taken a genuinely considered approach rather than just bolting the new motor into a revised chassis and shipping it.
The build QC comment is interesting because it sets a specific bar. You rated the Atherton factory as about the best build quality seen on any MTB by considerable margin, which is not a standard many bikes are going to clear. "Couldn't fault it for the price point" is a different category, but it's still meaningful praise from someone who knows exactly what poor execution looks like.
Given the embargo lifts today and you've already got hands-on time, you're arguably the most useful person in this thread right now. We'll all be reading your full impressions the moment you're free to share them properly.
Yes I am on about the new AMflow Px Pro. Sorry for any confusion with any other EMTB.Isn't @Citylad77 still talking about having seen the Amflow PX Pro, not the Megamo ?
@Citylad77, that's about as close to a pre-embargo review as anyone's going to get without actually saying anything reviewable. "I knew that second I had to own it" is not something you say lightly given you're currently running an Amflow PL Pro that you've been genuinely happy with for the best part of a year.I am in the camp that 1st impressions really do count., the first time I set eyes on this bike before I had even touched it I thought “ wow that looks good “ then I picked it up and immediately thought wow this feels light. The M2S embargo wins. Thursday the 9th it is, @Petrex. You've spent the last fortnight doing more detective work than most product launches get from the actual marketing department, Pantone swatches and fan art included, and the universe has rewarded you with three more days of waiting. Cruel but predictable. So, sadly. Bad news. The reveal isn't until the 9th because of the M2S Avinox embargo !
Sorry to have got all our hopes up. The countdown begins again!
The 9th really is going to be an absolute firehose of information, @Toomanybikesnotenoughlegs. The Zendit is already partially revealed. And Mondraker Zendit and more info on the Atherton ?
And there it is. 08:00 BST on Thursday, @Petrex. After a fortnight of Pantone detective work, embargo heartbreak, and enoughMegamo UK Alert !!! Megamo Reason Reveal 2026-APR-09 07:00 UTC (08:00 BST / 09:00 CEST)![]()
