Review Shimano Linkglide 10 speed drivetrain.

View attachment 178440

10 speed linkglide 11-48 with Madrone UDH Jab derailleur. working perfectly , slow wearing linkglide casettes 👍

10 speed linkglide shifter + KMC E10 chain
Didn't knew those RD were so expensive (350 bakarus).
Do they work better than XT Linkglide (~ 80bakarus)?

Just out of curiosity, why not DI2wireless Linkglide, and connected directly to the motor?

My new bike has an XT 12-speed drivetrain. I want to replace it with a Linkglide 11-speed drivetrain. But I guess it won't be easy, because I have a Shimano Microspline rear hub?

Yep you will need an hg freehub, ideally in steel rather than alloy.

Thank you. Greg Watts confirmed that I can just replace the drum on my hub and there is no need to replace the hub or wheel!

just wanted te report back from my setup

i found it works very well together and it just might be the best emtb drivetrain out there!!

cheap wear parts and fully serviceable

shimano SL-M5130 10s linkglide shifter
shimano LG400 11-48 casette 10 speed
Madrone Jab derailleur with UDH stiffner link and linkglide 11 speed cams

it shifts so crisp and direct its unbelievable🤯

the cheap shitmano derailleur has so much play from the beginning, its not very precise and general shit build quality. also the Jab comes with UDH stifner link and while riding it is clearly a winner. shifts are much faster, more precise and in general much stiffer and it has an amazing ratched clutch

yeah it was expensive but so worth it in my eyes

RD-M5130 are cheap but not really up
to task, they also need replcement every yeah if you ride alot and always out of stock

i recently found out that all 11 speed linkglide deraillers also work fine with 10s shifters so i upgraded my other bike to a 11 speed linkglide RD-M8130 derailleur with 10s casette and shifter, which works better but not as great as a jab

the jab in combination with linkglide 10s is a winner for
emtb in my eyes. good reliable shifts under load, fully rebuildable, and cheap wear parts (cassettes and chains)

the jab was 420€ including shipping and tax to europe
Di2 doesnt work with the bafangs im using.. or at least not without diy

I looked into other electronic drivetrains as well, im team mechanical, not much can break or go wrong, easy to adjust and no batteries that you can forget to charge or lose
also casettes are still cheap cause linkglide

mechanical shifting worked on bikes for
many years and sure electronical shifting has its postives it is just not for me, same as wireless droppers
just not needed and waste of money

again with the jab the linkglide feels
premium, shifts great and cheap wear parts, what else do you need

Great review, thanks!

Linkglide is advertised at least as having more durability especially with ebikes. Only a long term review will tell I guess.

I'm considering upgrading to linkglide when my cassette wears out. I'm slightly concerned about lock-in - I'd like to see 3rd party linkglide compatible chains for example.
High Rock Ruti

I put link glide on a older Levo Carbon pro. (maybe a 2022)
It started jumping cogs right on schedule, around 250 to 300 miles, the same as other drives, at least it's cheaper!

Warm Regards Ruti

Like you, I hate wireless shanizangs!

Left one roadbike, unwatched, just hang in the garage. One day, I wanted to ride, like - OK, Today I'll take this instead!
Verified tire pressures... and way we go!
