If the standard Shimano battery fits, may be this Darfon battery fits as well?

View attachment 131102
That remains unclear.
The Darfon battery connector is different compared to the Shimano BT-8035/8036/EN805/EN806.

The power plug for the EP801 which connects the lower battery mount to the motor is also different to the ep8.

It remains unclear whether the lower battery mount supplied (if you opt for the Darfon battery) will use the correct connector for the EP801. Or, if its designed for the Ep8.

But I'll see how things develop, as the Darfon battery system is loghter than the traditional Shimano batteries. Naturally, I'll share my findings👍🏿

is there some user that buy this frame ? Some testing ?
i have 2 ep8 repair with less kilometers and i want to made a second ebike.
best regards
Tommy

so they are selling motor and battery as well(ep08 and battery )?

They are trying to get a distributor to sell them motors and batteries. Their current clients are in Japan that have better access to the motors and batteries.

As a manufacturer they can contact directly shimano.I know of some small manufacturers who were succesfull getting motors and batteries from shimano. They were actually only assemblers not a frame manufacturer.Whope they will susceed.

Damn it!!!

Looks like the CEF52 is designed for a key lock style battery mechanism.

Oh well. Headset cable variants for the initial batch.

Maybe they'll offer variants without the key hole and simply allow the use of the BM-EN801A battery mount.

I tried to dig into the topic, I think with this specific battery mount You could also use the latest Darfon 800 Wh battery?

The Darfon battery connector is different to the Shimano BT-8035/8036/EN805/EN805 etc.
The lower mounts vary depending which battery type used.

I'll take pictures later which should explain things further and leave links to which lower mount works with which particular battery type👍🏿

Thanks mate! This is a really complex topic. Darfon is referring to the need of Gen2. Shimano Battery holder for this 800Wh battery….

So the above shows the Shimano BT-8036 (above) and the Darfon E4C0C (below)

As you can see, the Darfon battery connector is different to the Shimano BT-8036.

So both require specific battery mounts and specific external battery charger attachments.

Unfortunately, I don't have the specific model number associated for the Darfon battery mounts specific to whether you use either the ep8 or ep801). But I'll reach out to both Dengfu and Darfon for the exact model numbers and update the thread.

As for the Shimano standard batteries, the mounts will vary depending on which motor you use (which will subsequently determine which battery you can use).
If you use/order the ep8, you'll need the BM-E8030-A This will work with 1st generation Shimano batteries (BT-8035 and BT-8036)
If you use/order the ep801, you'll need the BM-EN801A. This will work with 2nd generation shimano batteries (BT-EN805, BT-EN806 & BT-EN805L).

I can't comment as to the downtube interior of the CEF52 at this time. So it remains unclear whether the frame will have provisions to swap the upper mount position to use either 504wh or 630wh. But I am aware that the physical dimensions of the Darfon E4C0C battery compared to the BT-8035/BT-EN805 are roughly the same when factoring in the mounts which holds the battery in place. The 720wh E4C0G battery is a bit longer than the 630wh standard Shimano batteries👍🏿

On somewhat related topic

Just tried to use Darfon E4C0C battery with Shimano EP801 drive unit - no go. Tried different battery with the same drive unit (Darfon E4C0G from Santa Cruz Heckler 9), and everything works.

At this point I'm puzzled whether the issue is with firmware on Darfon E4C0C, or that particular battery is not compatible with EP801 at all.

My limited knowledge says that EP801 only woks with 2nd. gen. batteries from Shimano and Darfon. The E4C0G is 2nd. gen. The E4C0C is 1st. gen.

I have ordered a CEF52, currently they can only supply the EP800 motor and E8035 battery, but I’m ok with that. I was led to believe that they would have had it complete and ready for freight by the end of January but there has been delays. It appears it won’t be sent until the end of February, I may receive it sometime towards the end of April.

you do know its chinese new year now right? everything is on backlog and big waiting lines for shipping

why did you decide on shimano instead of bafang or others?

I ordered the frame in December, was informed delivery would be late January, I had not considered that that new year could delay delivery. I already have 2 bafang powered bikes with M510 and M820 motors, my first 2 m510 motors had to be replaced due to various issues, the third has had 3 controllers, 3 torque sensors, various replacement bearings, seals and numerous firmware changes. I am on the 2nd M820 motor and 2nd battery, so I thought building a bike with a Shimano may be something to try.

so much bad luck with bafang wow

been riding them 4.5 years and i only broke handlebar controllers in crashes🤣

just wait it out. around march it should be there for sure otherwise something else going on
