I’m pretty positive either crestline or cascade ig posted a story with the 200mm link about a month ago. I can’t remember what it said or what it’s for, but it’s real.

i didn't say the 200mm rumor was debunked, just that this clickbait video is full of errors and this is stuff that annoys me. if you make a video like this, at least do your due dilligence and don't say stuff that is not true. he did say though that it will be a new 200mm bike by crestline, not just different links. so first inconsistency there.

totally wrong and can be seen as so by the biggest idiot: that the atherton will come with either the avinox 600 or 800wh battery. simply not possible with a round tube.

already debunked: that the teewing high pivot will have i-track suspension. only an idiot who doesn't know shit about how said system works would say that if they had a look at the idler position.

there were a few other errors i already forgot again because the video was just plain annoying after the first few minutes

The slow product offseason + clickbaiters like this is giving way to a lot of nonesense recently...

If Crestline was coming out with a new DH bike would Gwen have left? Doubtful. Can Crestline support more grassroots DHers by retrofitting a current frame? Yes, Troydon said so in the podcast.

Below, from the source.

Troydon did indeed say it on Vital MTB, link above, so not clickbait (also Sams Bikes has been doing youtube a while and his integrity is good). Crestline DH bike doesn't fit the taller racer that Troydon has signed so by making an eDH bike he can fit a cradle for a standard BB and make a new bike that fits.

i also messaged him about this - it will only fit the DJI Avinox version, not the gen 5 Bosch.

Jank components posted up a video of blanking plates (for the screen and charging port) they 3d printed for what looks like a RS181.2 (I think so, based on the charging port blank looked familiar). I assume for a acoustic DH bike built off a RS181.1/2

I saw that also!

Mystery solved for some people:

Video: Alden Pate Returns to Crestline - Racing a Custom "Stripped" E-Bike Frame for 2026

"The conventional Crestline DH bike is only in one size, which doesn’t fit me. So, we decided to go with the e-bike frame that comes in an XL and make a few simple mods. We’ve taken the motor, battery and electric components out, obviously, and put in a dummy BB, 200mm link, and a couple of small 3D printed pieces(shoutout Jank Components). It is a stock frame, though, exactly the same as what people get with the e-bike; there's no structural changes."

The bike alone wasn’t the reason Aaron left Crestline. But riding an unproven brand for World Cup DH and having to develop the bike on his own and doing all the testing on his own definitely had something to do with it.

This is awesome!

More eye candy

The Motor Delete: Alden Pate’s Custom Crestline eMTB to DH Conversion

It's a mash up to get something to work. Not too dissimilar to wat Orbea did with their Rallon DH bike my steeling the wild fame as a starting point.

The awesome thing is that the standard stock frame must be strong enough for DH racing abuse.

So get out there and abuse the hell out of ya crestlines on dh tracks!

Troydon doesn't F around with no CAT 4 ratings!

Crazy they got 200mm of rear travel on a 65mm shock... must be super progressive

I inquired about the longer travel linkage and Troydon mentioned that they have been testing with the Rockshox using different tunes (C34, C37, & C42). I have no idea how different the tunes actually are, but points to being a good idea to have a 2nd shock if you're going change from 160/180 to 200mm linkages.

I have to assume the shock has a custom tune on it also. The guys going to be racing that bike, and will push it harder than 99% of the guys of this forum. So if it works for him it would work for most here.

It depends on how many pies us lazy arse e bikers have eaten compared to the racers. The effective result to an increasing leverage ratio is having to use a bigger spring for the same weight human, and more dampening in the shock.

So.... 120kg ebiker riding a 24kg bike needs a farken big spring.....

At 80kg kitted i run 475lb spring on the 18Omm setting

Yeah, thats not ideal
200mm shredding

Judging by the video of Alden shredding on the 200mm link, I’d say it’s just fine. I’ll for sure be getting the link for mine to go with my 40, (for the ultimate DH beast for big hit days and park). I’ll also be running a Fox X2 with it so I can just add more air if need be. And I’ll keep the stock 180 links for when I run it with my 38 for everything else . Can’t wait to get it!🤘🏻😎

Fair enough. The potential challenge running an airshock with the higher leverage ration dependent on your weight will be tapping out the max pressure rating of the shock. If you are a heavy bloke it might be an issue.

If you're maxing out air pressure, at that point I would be concerned that they make spring rates for coil shocks that high. In a 205x65 Vivid you can run 360psi.

For example lets say you have a 325lb rider on a 200mm rear travel bike with a 65mm stroke shock. They'd need roughly a 840lb spring or 359psi in their shock.

Luckily for me, I’m not heavy. 165lbs naked or maybe 175 with gear.
