Hello everyone, I’m having a serious issue with my Stevens e-Inception ED 8.7 GTF (Shimano EP8 motor, Darfon E4C0G battery).

While riding uphill, the bike suddenly cut power to the motor and displayed an error code (something like E020). After that, every time I turn the bike on, it automatically shuts down again within about 20 seconds.

Before this problem became constant, the battery would occasionally trip the BMS right after charging. I had to open the battery manually and reconnect one of the BMS connectors. After doing that, the bike would work for a short time, but the issue always returned.

Now the situation is worse:

the battery won’t charge at all,

the bike still powers off after 20 seconds,

and the motor won’t stay on long enough for diagnostics.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with the Darfon E4C0G battery or the Shimano EP8 system? Any suggestions on what might be causing this or how to properly fix it?

Hey alex11, I’ve had very similar issues with my Heckler 9 2022/2023. It driving me bit loco.
I charge it to 100%, go for a ride, after 2-4miles it loses 2 bars, after 5-6 miles it in the red, 6-7 miles max it dead. 🤔
It’s out of warrenty and I’m the second owner. I actually never ridden it for a full on 15 mile ride. The guy who sold it, said it was fine a week before I bought it. So… what can ya do!?
Anyway, do you or anybody know where to get a Darfon Battery model E4C0G-S ???
Can’t get ahold of Darfon, shop can’t find one - biggest dealer of Santa Cruz around Denver.
Any leads on sourcing one would be greatly appreciated! Hope y’all are doing well!

After a few frustrating nights of troubleshooting, I took a break and ended up relaxing at 7bitcasino online it was a surprisingly good distraction while figuring out my next repair steps
Shimano’s E020 is typically a battery ↔ drive-unit communication error, so I’d first suspect a bad/loose contact, damaged wiring, or the Darfon battery/BMS itself (especially since it was already tripping and now won’t charge).

If it were me, I’d stop trying to “reset” it by opening the pack and take it to a Shimano service dealer ASAP-these systems often need proper diagnostics and a known-good battery to confirm whether it’s the battery, mount/contacts, or loom.
