I aquired a large T3 build for approximately 50% of retail, with a view of selling the bits I didn’t want (forks, shock, wheels, brakes & dropper) to use the bits I already had & preferred anyway. By the time I’ve cleared the parts on, it really won’t owe me much.
I have a full fat, long travel, shuttle machine, with a Bosch Gen 5 motor which is actually reasonably light (22kg) so I wanted to see if I could get one of these around 18kg with a reliable build for something a bit shorter in size, and travel to be a bit more fun to ride every day, also with the view of it replacing my mid travel pedal bike, as I’ve reached a point now where unless it’s my Spesh Epic, I’m not interested in slogging a pedal bike around, to ride trails.
I have had some questionable experiences with Yeti in the past with their warranties & the general reliability of their bikes (both have been rubbish) so I realise I’m opening myself up to a potential world of pain here, now involving electrics too
First ride today & I actually wanted to not like it, because of my past issues, but it was annoyingly good, like really good.
This is my first experience of a mid power bike from my old Kenevo SL, which was just miserable, and it is surprisingly good, even compared to a full power bike. In terms of noise, the new Bosch is very quiet when going down trails now, and this is on a par. Where it wins however is noise when pedalling up - super quiet & pedalling over the top of the motor mod way down a trail is actually a nice experience. It also seems to get impressive range.
Current build is 18.4kg, there was quite a few spots to save weight & I have a set of XX T-Type cranks spare I will put on & that will get it a bit closer.
The 6finity suspension actually feels decent, not as good as a high pivot bike, but possibly the best of a non HP bike I’ve ridden in recent times.
Annoyingly impressed.
