Hello - New member, but long time lurker. I had a (very beloved) '22 Rise, that I'd modded to be 170/172 F/R, with coils on both ends (Z1 F, EXT Storia R) - but that bike got incinerated in a recent house/garage fire... Now I'm trying to slowly recoup my more loved items (my MTB's being included), I ended up picking up a brand new (old stock) 2022 Orbea Wild M20. Figured I'd try the full-power eMTB thing, and see how/if I like it as well, or better than my Rise.

So... Question is - what coil shocks do/do not fit in the pre-2023 Wild carbon frames? Mine is a size large, if it matters.

I've done plenty of searching, and really didn't find many definitive answers to this. I know the DHX2 fits, since it seems some Wild's came with one from the factory. But, I'd like to know what my other options are (DVO Jade X, CC Kitsuma Coil, EXT Storia, MRP Hazzard, etc). So, anyone know for sure?

I'm run a DHX2 and EXT eStoria in my 2022 Orbea Wild, I also know that a Rockshox Super deluxe coil fit and both the Fox X2 and Float X fit.

I had a Cascade Components link on my old Wild, take a look at that as a nice upgrade. Bumped the travel up to 165mm and was more progressive and gave the bike better mid stroke support.

Awesome. Good to know. I loved the Storia on my Rise - even though I got it used, and it was tuned for a completely different bike, lol. It was a bit noisy, but besides that, it was great. Might just have to do the same with my Wild!

I haven't even gotten the bike yet - being shipped. So, I suppose I'll at least try it stock for a few rides before I start modding it. Just trying to get the mod list sorted out sooner than later!

Bump... Nobody else? I've got my eye on a CC Kitsuma Coil - would love to give it a shot - but I read somewhere that there may be fitment issues (read it here somewhere, but can't re-find it, and it was kind of cryptic, so not that helpful)... Anyone happen to know for sure?

Everyone beware, 2023/2024 Float X 100% does NOT fit.

I bought one for my MY22 Wild FS, and the shock head collides with the seat tube, making it impossible to even push the shock far enough backwards to allow holes on the shock to line up with the holes in the frame (bearings) in order to insert bolts.
This is because the head protrudes much higher above the trunnion bolt axis compared to stock DPS shock.
That brings it closer to the curved section of the frame where seat tube and down tube join, and it collides there.

@Bruce J, what for a coil spring damper did you take?

I tried a FOX DHX which is branded for the Gost Riot EN / E-Riot EN.

450 lbs spring (I'm about 175 lbs with gear).

Still struggling a bit.
I have to run the rebound fully closed and the compression open.

I'll try a lighter spring and then maybe going deeper in the shims stack.

Anyone knowing the FOX reference number of the OEM DHX2 that can be ordered with that bike?

Would help to know the settings.
My current DHX is said to have RL and CL settings (rebound light and compression light).

Thanks
Jean

Jean - Not sure exactly what issues your having? What are you struggling with?

I ended up getting an MRP Hazzard for my Wild, and honestly, couldn't be happier. Between that and my smash-potted Fox 38, the bike is an absolute monster. Rides like a Cadillac. Smashes and jumps all things!

I run a 450lb coil on the Hazzard. I'm also just around 175lb ready to ride, and it's perfect.

I run a 450lb coil on my 'analog' (Revel Rail 29er), on a Push SV8. I tried a 425lb coil on it to start, but bumped up to 450lb per Push's recommendations - and it does ride better with the heavier coil. Does make me wonder if I might not benefit from bumping up to 475lb on the Wild, but really not on my radar since it rides so well already...

The MRP Hazzard, seems to be a nice shock.

On the DHX the LSC is to high and the rebound to fast, so the it doesn't seem to be possible to find a good setting only with the clickers.

I think a revalve is mandatory.

But first I've to find the right spring.

I'll get a 400lbs and a 425lbs to try in a couple of days.

Nevertheless the not optimal working DHX feels much better than the float X2, which is not known to be a bad shock...

I also have a smashpot, with 45lbs spring, set to 170mm stroke.
Tried a 50lbs spring, was to hard.
May try a 40lbs spring.

I tried the 425 and the 400 spring.
The 400 gave me the best feeling.
But still pogo-ing when I drop into a g-out.
I still have the LSR fully closed.
Does it lack HSR?
The damper came with the light rebound and light compression settings.
By the next service I'll revalve it to the medium rebound setting.
I could also try to close a bit the LSC, which is full open, to use less stroke in the g-outs.

Found a solution: just close the lock switch :ROFLMAO:

I tried to close the LSC half way.
Was better, I could reopen the rebound a few clicks.

Got confirmation from a tuner to move to a stiffer rebound stack, and maybe also a stiffer compression stack.

Well, good, that was easy, lol.
