    Peddle strikes!

I found I had the same reaction, perhaps we should qualify that seat of the pants reaction. If reddit posts and AI answers are correct, then: 1) when the rider remains upright (no lean), shortening crank arms by 10 mm provides exactly 10 mm more vertical ground clearance to the pedals on any...

    Peddle strikes!

I've got a regular section of 200+ meters of rocks, roots, and mud where the pedals have to stay at 3/9. For these prolonged sections, a throttle is the only solution.

    Peddle strikes!

After shortening my cranks by 10mm, I discovered my rear shock was the culprit, it was under inflated, resulting in too much sag.

Do you want a new smart charger to maximize battery life?

I have been doing this for years for batteries of varying voltages and choosing to apply a bespoke charging current using an inexpensive CCCV bench power supply. For those with a larger budget, the Satiator has been around for years, and the Mean Well NPB-450-NFC seems to be styled to compete...

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

I was wondering about this as well.

    Shigura or replace brakes?

If you need them sooner rather than later, you can source the Jagwire kit for XT levers from Amazon for $21.45. If you have more time, as noted above, they sell the parts required for your hydraulic line to fit Shimano levers on Ali Express. I bought a set of 3 for $4.00 (look for "Set BH59 BH90...

    Shigura or replace brakes?

Mine were not, so I asked AI if they ever used DOT. Here is what it told me: I used generic mineral oil with no issues. And BTW "Shigura" = real Shimano levers "Shamgura" = fake Shimano levers (eg: sourced from Ali Express)

    Shigura or replace brakes?

I placed (probably fake) XT levers on my (mineral oil) magura system to make it into a 'Shamgura' system. Still working well after 4 months. You just have to change the olive and nut on the compression fitting to mount the XT levers on your existing hydraulic lines. (Shimano BH90 olive, nut, and...

Pad wear leading to spongy brake?

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

I'm wondering if it's worth it to change to a floating rotor?

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

Will do! I never would have guessed that the rotors could be the culprit. But AI tells me, "metal-on-metal contact caused by high metal content brake pads grinding on cheap rotors can amplify squealing sounds." So I will try to find some better quality rotors rather than change my sintered pads.

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

I replaced my old rotors last spring with new ones from Ali Express, and the front 180mm one screams like crazy. Even after I followed a rigorous cleaning procedure the noise did not stop. I find the howling works better than a bell for moving pedestrians that are listening to their earbuds...

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

The way I look at it is the lip that gets created between the outer edge of the disc, and the wear surface, I think you refer to it already as the 'ridge'. You cannot really measure wear with a pair of calipers. However, the OP simply seems to want to point out that the original rotor was...

Magura MT7 brakes drive me crazy

I don't think trying to measure rotors with calipers will work, you need to use a micrometer.
