    Avinox M2s rattle

This is the first news that I've heard that Avinox is treating M2S motor rattle as a warranty replacement issue. This is a good development.

Pretty soon AI will be making your videos ;). Speaking of which, it's pushing two months since your last from Sea Otter.

    Avinox M2s rattle

Assuming at this point you've contacted Crestline (or whichever company's bike you are riding) and they have in turn contacted Avinox, what is the formal warranty disposition of your issue? Avinox treating the rasping issue above under warranty does not apply, IMO as it sounds like an unrelated...

MS2 vs M2 Motor Rattle and other Intangibles

Yes, the base M2 rattled while coasting under the gnar compared back to back with the M2S. I would say it was less than than the Bosch Gen 4 bike I have, so in the scheme of things, the motors performance far outweighed concerns about rattling, though folks sensitivity to it varies. While I...

By that token, derailleurs could be dead as well, along with chains and take-up clutches. Putting only 3 gear speeds into a mid-drive motor won't be that hard and I can see DJI easily doing this with an arm tied behind its back.

    Maxon Air S 90Nm 620 W, 600/400. + 250Wh extender

In total agreement. But as good as this motor is, they dropped the ball on the battery in a big way. They designed their system biased toward low capacity for the SL mid-power space, thinking that range extenders are practically a precondition for anything but. And Maxon took no steps to make...

I take it the Topeak is a press-on chuck? It appears that the redesign addressed the issue of some screw-on chucks, where the minimal threading of the original design could allow are to escape if the chuck screwed past the threads. Perhaps the Topeak chuck worked better with the threadless...

Rivian ALSO TM-B Urban / EMTB

Have you taken the bike off road on some decent technicals? To have an electronic shifting mechanism intermediate the mechanical CVT rear hub is interesting. I've tried the straight mechanical version, and was left a bit wanting, perhaps because of my familiarity with the indexed Speedhub...

I seem to recall some issues with the presta big bores that supposedly the new design would remedy. I've used the Hybrid version (Schrader head/ Presta shank) the whole time with flawless performance, and the Hybrids have even more air flow than the Presta version.

    Avinox M2s rattle

I would suggest claiming this right away as a warranty issue with Crestline (assuming that's your bike). The more these claims hit Avinox, the more they can't sweep it under the rug.

    Avinox M2s rattle

With no kickback and no chain whipping, there would effectively be no rattle, assuming it's final drive gear slop at issue.

    Avinox M2s rattle

I feel this question should be asked under the assumption if these occurrences are a sample defects under warranty replacement (i.e. a fraction of all M2S motors in the wild) or an actual design flow that warrants a recall. Both require good faith action from Avinox. If instead Avinox blows this...

    Avinox M2s rattle

Technically, suspension-activated pedal kickback is only a function of chain growth during activation, not anti-squat. You can achieve high anti-squat without pedal kickback with a high single concentric pivot design that locks in the instant center. But this would require either a...

Another vote for the Big Bores. Especially the the Hybrid version which is basically a coreless schrader valve that fits presta rims. Compatible with everything and the air volume it passes is insane and no way you could ever clog it. Yes, and it will happen just once. It's funny how the...
