I struggled with the update and same as you thought that maybe Santa Cruz had not approved. I got everything updated by signing out and then signing back in. Then the blue banner appeared in the components > drive unit screen that allowed for 120 update.
There is a lot of good information in this thread already but I will add two more thing that has made the most significant difference for me regarding arm pump/hand fatigue.
Angle brake levers at 23-27 degrees. I prefer 25 degrees
Adjust brake levers bite point to be parallel to the handlebar
I don't think the Vala frame can support that. I'm willing to bet you will get used to it. Compared to my Bullit the Vala feels very quick and nimble. But, I'm not sure if Florida has the trails the bike was designed for.
I use the Powermore 250 quite a lot and like the extended range. I was skeptical of the additional weight and how it would affect the ride. Picking up the bike to say put on the car rack, you will feel the additional weight. Nothing terrible but noticeable. However when riding the bike I haven't...
Out of curiosity, what did you not like about the fox suspension? Sounds like you found out that the bike handles better with the 170 fork. Did you try lower pressure (more sag) in the fork and more compression with the 180 fork?
I found this one when I was looking at doing it. I think the challenge for having it clean looking will be where it exits the chainstay and connecting it to the motor.
It mates to the powermore bracket/adapter through the bottom bolt. That little notch right above the hole fits in a designated slot on the powermore bracket.
