    Pic of the Day

Pretty casual ride today as over twenty fat bikers took over the town of Lacombe. More of a meet and greet and promo for the bike shops and micro brewery that organize and sponsor the events. One can’t help but think that many showed up just for the complementary beverages offered up by Blindman...

More winter terrain on yesterdays ride including some groomed XC runs at the local bike park. Decent conditions with the exception of a couple of deep pockets along the hillside.

    EMTB manufacturers are price gouging.

Ever wonder what pricing is like in a country like Japan? On a recent cycling trip over there we stopped in at a Trek dealership in the city of Kofu not that far a drive from my wife’s home town. Mountain biking in Japan is nowhere near as popular as it in other parts of the globe. The...

    Bike Storage Rack

Sweet looking space. Far less cluttered and much tidier than mine. One thing that I am missing is a shop stool but there’s not another inch of room to spare for even for that.

    Bike Storage Rack

Most homeowners in my hood have their cars parked out on their driveways and in most cases it’s simply due to the fact that they have too much stuff scattered around on their garage floors. I was facing the same dilemma over a decade ago so I installed slatwall on three sides of the interior of...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Surprisingly the covers make very little noise even at highway speeds as I discovered on a recent test drive. The fit is rather snug and there are few gaps where the wind can enter due to the zippered closures around the wheels. My 1Up rack is built solidly and doesn’t budge at all and since the...

What did you buy your ebike this week?

Without a decent winter coat Bigfoot would be exposed to the elements during nasty winter road trips. That’s when I decided to get it a zippered coat, hat, gaiter and mitts to shield it and in particular, its more sensitive regions, from the ice and grime that get kicked up. I have to admit...

There was a great turnout of 35 at a group fat ride two weeks ago in Lacombe, AB. Pretty casual meet up at a local brewery followed up by a couple of laps around a local lake.

Jelly! That’s how I feel watching your footage. I would kill to ride the singles in your neck of the woods. It’s going to be at least another two months before I can even think about pulling the Levo out of storage. :(

And then there are those of us who choose not to hibernate. 3” (7.5cm) of snow overnight. Nowhere near current Maritime standards but nevertheless still significant enough to give me a pretty decent workout.

The pre-dawn wake up call was certainly warranted which made for more favorable ground conditions and the sunrise was the proverbial icing on the cake.

Not recent but footage of my ride up to Powderface Ridge last summer just outside of the townsite of Bragg Creek, AB. Not sure if the climb up to top of the ridge was more difficult or the descent. The views were spectacular so there is some truth to the proverb of no pain no gain.

    LETS SEE YOUR RIDE FOOTAGE

I rode the Norco BF along the Pines single after several freeze and thaw cycles which left much of the trail looking a bit sketchy particularly the off-camber segments. There is still snowpack but what remains is a far cry from the condition it was in a little over a week ago. It’s been such a...

Trust in Norco as no mere mortal may ride on water though I’m vexed trying to find sandals large enough to fit the Bigfoot. The last time that I traversed the tributary was on a vintage Trek rigid.

In my dreams. This is about as close I’ll get to anything resembling a body of water. At least I could ride across it.
