First I've heard of inspections or fines, besides folk riding escooters without helmets on the pavement in the CBD of Sydney (don't do that, folks). Certainly haven't heard of anything ebike reg enforcement related on the grapevine up here in Newcastle. I only spot a few that are obviously...
I've written to the NSW Transport minister a number of months back pleading for review of our 25 km/h limits and putting forward a few arguments in favor. I received a very form response explaining what the current rules are. I won't hold my breath either...
Sounds like you're sorted, but if anyone else stumbles across this thread no issues with the Rockymounts Splitrail LS. Carried an XL Rail and L e160 no worries. At AU$720 it's relatively affordable and light to mount as well. 50mm Hitch mount only so no good if you've only got a towball.
Thank you @Sander23 & @Mitchb, that third option didn't even occur to me. I guess I just assumed because the bike store sends the fork away (and charges $300) it must be a difficult job. And the bike store does plenty of tasks in store that stumped me, like dialing in gears and adding a dropper...
I've just gotten into this MTBing caper a year ago with a Merida e160 500. It came with a basic Rockshox 35 Gold fork but I love it to bits and am having a blast riding it. I can feel the more expensive forks on my friends bikes are better, but I'm well happy with the 35 Gold for now - it's my...
I did a back to back ride on the weekend on my Merida e160 then a mates Rail 7, same loop, same conditions. In lieu of multi-day loans these days when shopping for a bike it was nice to do that direct comparison.
Impressions were:
* I found emtb and trail modes VERY similar. Neither was lacking...
I have a commuter from 2016 that still fires up. Based on range - 40-50 km per full 400W charge - I'm guestimating capacity is sitting around 60 - 70%. Due to a failing hub motor and a few other electrical gremlins it was replaced with a now two year old Giant hybrid commuter. That has been used...
Great thread. Interesting to read many here have good trails nearby.
Ive got a dozen terrific maintained tracks 4km away in one direction, and another half dozen scrappy unsanctioned trails 4km in the other direction so can't grumble. The ride to and from reminds me what squeaks and rattles I...
Thanks, might get my shop to reroute the light and display cables next service. I feel resistance on those cables at full lock, which isn't a great sign.
Well, if I'm ever in SA I owe you a beer, mate. After going right over the stem, headset, forks and confirming everything seemed firmly attached in there I noticed on today's ride it also happened when seated. Reseated the saddle a bit more centred and voila knock gone! Uncanny the way the sound...
Great to hear about your recovery and return to riding
Is that a thing? Sounds like a terrific way to thin out your social bubble.
If I'm riding with unpowered friends I'll ride at their pace by cutting the motor or dropping it down to neuter the added weight. It's called not being a tool. If...
Thank you both for the replies. Knocks and creaks can be tricky buggers to track down. I'll have a crack at those suggestions then likely handball it to the LBS when I inevitably muck something up 😅
I ran over all the cockpit bolts to spec just last night - everything feels pretty tight up there.
I don't have the tool to check the engine bolts but it feels rock solid with no play.
The bars do hit the block when turning to the extremes - there's probably about 160 degrees of arc there...
