My ‘new’ bike, bought a hardly used expert , that i upgraded with new HX1700’s, conti tires with cushcore, TRP dhr evo 2x220mm brakes with Galfer pads, and Levociraptor Gen3..
Very happy with it 👍🏼
Working on the fork settings with shockwiz..
Stock expert stuff, Code rs and x-fusion manic post (might end up swapping it for a oneup post eventually).
I found a `Matchmaker HD3,7’ thingy that might be the right one 🤔
Things changed quickly, i’m picking up a 1y old Expert that igot a ok deal on.. We got 5y warranty here, so still 4 to go, happy with that.
Not gonna jump on the upgrade train on this, except the wheels, but any input on things i should consider is appreciated.
Like the Fox x2 shock, i’ve read...
Thanks, as expected.
So in my case, where wheels needs an upgrade anyway, it’s close to $3000 extra for carbon frame, better fork (x2 shock is not something i really want), a display and a better derauilure/shifter then.
I think i have the answer then :)
Are the expert wheels (and hubs) a good upgrade from the Comp wheels then? I’ve seen so many upgrade the Expert wheels as well, which tells me they might still not be very good?
Hi
Considering a new bike, and i find that every single bike out there has it’s quirks and negatives, so i think i’ll probably just go by heart and LBS reputation… (We get 5y of ‘warranty’ where i live, so free brose’s for a while 😅)
Not willing to pay up for a Levo Pro, and hardly a expert...
Myself, i noticed i cut 15-20sek of a 4:30min singletrack «downhill» trail (as in not a park made trail, and no pedaling what so ever.) through the woods, going from a Rocky Mountain Instinct BC over to my 900E.
I dont believe the 900E is quicker for a pro rider, but definently not much slower...
My stock e11 chain was 0,5 worn after just 500km. Well maintained, and not especially hard use.
And the next chain , shimano cn-e8000 lasted approx 700km.
Retesting a new e11 again now for confirmation, But not decided which i`ll try next.
Tell it to these guys..
XT and XTR brakes get squeal/power loss after sitting idle for 6-8 weeks- Mtbr.com
I totally agree with you, it does absolutely not sound right. And it can be some contamination crap going on, which is not visible. But there is no doubt there`s ALOT of experienced...
Bike is 1y old, with stock saint brakes. 2019 model bike.
Believe me, ive triple checked for leaks, cleaned EVERYTHING atleast 10 times, also before putting in new pads.
Brakes worked GREAT for 15km after installing new pads. 1 week later, they where shite. No oil residue to be seen anywhere...
Thing is, i`ve been googlin _alot_ about this issue the last days obviously, and from what i`ve found it seems like this is a known issue among MANY shimano users the last 5 years.
Pads seems to go weak just by sitting still for acouple weeks.
Most on resin pads, but also several on shimano...
Yeha, maybe i should make a sprinkler system for the rear brake ?
I`ve inspected the rotor to be perfect, as far as i can tell.
Re-alligned the caliper in every way i can think of... Ended up alligning it so i clearly can tell both pads hit the rotor at the same time, so the rotor does not...
