I understand the crank length is important for power and efficiency for road bikes and non-EMTB but with a motor I feel that we can get away with shorter cranks to increase clearance
Hmm... sourcing a motor and associated electrical parts is not going to be easy as Santa Cruz doesn't support after market rebuilds of their bikes.
VPP went out in Model Year 2026 so yours is a 2024 or older model. I would start here...

My new bike came with 165mm crank which is pretty standard with EMTB but after riding a couple trails I noticed more pedal strikes on climbs and steep descents so I ordered the same stock cranks but in 155mm length to try.
So far so good on one ride but I do have to move my seat up another...
Upgraded this year to a lighter weight SL EMTB after riding a 55lbs full EMTB for a couple of years.
Really enjoy riding a lighter bike (42lbs) and the reduce power and range isn't an issue as there is 13lbs less weight to lug around.
