How easy is it to remove the crankshaft and install a new one?

    Shimano Steps axle replacement?

    Unfortunately I'm in Australia.

    Shimano Steps axle replacement?

Yes, the axle/spine that goes through the middle of the motor. Not sure exactly what you would call it, there motor's crank or the motor's axle. I'm not referring to the cranks themselves.

    Shimano Steps axle replacement?

Long story, but due to a series of mishaps and 2 stripped crank splines, I have reason to suspect that the spline on my axle might be compromised. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the Steps 8000 axle only?

    Shimano E8000 power on issue?

Yep, the cable does look like it's been kinked at some point, so maybe has finally given up. Just wish it was an easy thing to get hold of a new one and test it... I reckon it's that, the power switch itself or the motor.

    Shimano E8000 power on issue?

Makes no difference. Battery lights come on as normal showing charge levels.

    Shimano E8000 power on issue?

I have a very similar issue with my Range VLT, which stopped working yesterday after 10 months of frequent riding and no issues whatsoever. When I push the power button, the light comes on and then slowly fades out. The display does not come on at all. I have tried the 2 x slow presses and the...

Unanswered HELP! Major issues installing an M520 calliper on an M8000 lever...

It was 100% the barb. I’ve mixed and matched shimano levers and callipers before, always successfully. Usually you have to buy a calliper specific hose, but not in the case of the m520s, where you can use an XT hose with a new olive and barb at the callous end. I think the flow rate of the...

    Coil Shock on e160?

That’s an absolute bargain! I’m running a 2.5 x 400 spring, I weight about 75kg, so you might go up or down depending on your weight. My Norco Range takes a 450 spring, but the leverage ratio of the Merida needs a softer 400. I ride in NZ ( South Island) often, I can imagine an ebike would be...

    Coil Shock on e160?

All you need is the mounting hardware that came off the bottom eyelet of your old shock. You have to push/tap the central axle through the eyelet and then put on the 2 x spacers each side. I guess the only thing I can't verify in terms of fit in the frame is where the top of the spring meets...

    Coil Shock on e160?

Yep, the size is 205 x 65 Trunnion mount. I paid $630 AUD for the Jade with a standard spring, which I am upgrading to a lightweight Valt spring. You can use longer stroke shocks as well as long as they are Trunnion mount and the eye to eye is 205. The DVO Jade actually has a stroke of 69mm...

    Coil Shock on e160?

I ended up getting the DVO Jade and am absolutely loving it! Sensational small bump sensitivity and great for big hits. All round it just feels massively better that the air shock. I also tried the Cane Creek off my other bike on it and that was just as good. You can’t buy the Fox coil in...

    800e Brake upgrade?

The cheapest way to do it is Deore 4 pot callipers (M520), which do not need a new hose, just the same fittings as the lever end of the existing hose. Just make sure you use the silver barb, not the gold one! Same power as Zees or M8020s.

Unanswered HELP! Major issues installing an M520 calliper on an M8000 lever...

Turns out the issue was solely with the barbs the bike shop gave me to fit the calliper end of the hose. The gold barbs do not work and cause the brakes to pump up and stick. The silver barbs work perfectly. I wish I had known this 5 bleeds and many hours ago! I rode the bike this afternoon...

Unanswered HELP! Major issues installing an M520 calliper on an M8000 lever...

Should I be using the gold or silver barbs at the calliper end? I've read that the gold barbs have a smaller flow, which might be causing my issue. The bike shop where I got the calliper gave me a gold barb, but I think I've seen silver ones on all my other Shimano brakes.
