Brakes again! Mounts for Shimano Saints on E160?

Hi - yes, the factory fitted adaptors are fine for the Saints with 220mm front, & 200mm rear, rotors. However, the rear mount is not perfect for 200mm rotors - not even with the Codes. I think I had to jack up the back end of the rear caliper with a 0.5mm spacer/washer between mount & caliper...

    Hi from South Gloucestershire (England)

FoD is pretty much my local/go to area, although it's actually about 50 mins away by car, over the water! Although I've been going there for more years than I care to remember, it's only recently that I've started going further afield than Pedalbikeaway/Sallowvalets area. I did "discover" a...

    Hi from South Gloucestershire (England)

That's very good of you - thanks for the offer. Whereabouts are you and where do you ride? I come with a slight "group health" warning: I'm the world's slowest going uphill! Downhill is a different matter.

    Hi from South Gloucestershire (England)

I've had problems with it on & off for several years, but - yes - landing from a drop on one of the downhill lines at FoD, my ankle just gave way 😬. Game over. Can't do tomorrow, but Monday could be poss. Not done the Gap this year - nor ever done it on eMTB before, so I'd be happy to do that...

    Hi from South Gloucestershire (England)

Sounds good - I seem to be running short of riding buddies! However... yesterday, at FoD, was my 1st time back on a bike for 8 weeks after having partially torn an achilles tendon. It's far from being100%, but a lot better than it was!

    Sold 2022 Whyte E160rs 2022 v2 Large: 4900

Pity you're not still in Bristol/Yate area: I have a friend for whom that'd be spot on. Though he's away for a couple of weeks now.

Brakes again! Mounts for Shimano Saints on E160?

I think I'm decided on replacing the SRAM Codes with Shimano Saints on my E160RS V1. I have 220mm rotor front & 200mm rotor on the rear. If anyone here has made such a switch, could you let me know if the calipers will fit ok on the original mounts? On the front I have a Post Mount 180-220...

SRAM Code R brakes - opinions

Just to clarify, what are the "these" in your case? Do you mean the Codes? Thx.

SRAM Code R brakes - opinions

Thanks for the reply. I'm away ay the mo so can't take a look at the bike, but I can't quite get why you had to take a grinder to the rear brake mount? The original Whyte mount for a 200mm rotor has clearance for the magnet, or did you have a different mount or rotor fitted? Thx again.

SRAM Code R brakes - opinions

Do you know what adaptor you used for the rear when fitting the Hope brakes? On my E-160RS, my rear wheel has a 200mm rotor and the Whyte WHYFM200 adaptor, which is a pretty bizarre fitting as Whyte use a flat mount on the rear stay. Front adaptor for the Fox 38 forks would be Hope mount M. Thx.

SRAM Code R brakes - opinions

An update after quite a few rides... I got wind of the new SRAM HS2 rotors - 2.3mm thick, so I got myself a pair of those to replace the junk ones that were on my bike: 220mm front, 200mm rear. I bled the brakes, during which I accidentally pushed one of the pistons out of the rear caliper, so...

So do I buy my first E-MTB new or second hand???

Don't apologise for your English - it's better than many Brits can manage! But there are no hills in Belgium, so you don't qualify for an ebike;);)

So do I buy my first E-MTB new or second hand???

I bought my 1st emtb last month - 2nd hand. It's a Whyte E-160RS V1, ex-hire bike. In this case, the motor has been replaced prior to its sale - like zero miles - and has full warranty, and the drivetrain was also brand new. It was a good £1.5K off the new price, so it looked like a great deal...

SRAM Code R brakes - opinions

The ride in the Quantocks yesterday was cut short - firstly by one of my mates breaking his mech hanger (same bike as mine ), then by my other mate losing pressure in his shock which, when we tried to pump up, found it had blown a seal. So not a real test of the brakes, though - having...
