I've ended up putting Michelin AM Force 2.35" on the front and rear of my Haibike hardtail, and I've gone tubeless for the first time. Tyres give a much more cushioned ride than my previous 2.1" winter tyres, and give good grip in the dry stone trails I've used.

False alarm, I cured the creaking noise and the BB is ok.
I think the noise was coming from the quick release on the front wheel.
Only noise from the motor is an occasional whirring sound, which has been there for ages.

Great reply thanks. I also like the 0 cadence assistance the Yamaha gives, particularly helpful for starting on steep hills. I use the STD or 2nd level on the PW most of the time, ECO if I feel like a workout and Turbo for steep hills.
I believe the new Yamaha PWX motor is a big improvement...

Has anyone got experience of the Yamaha PW motor, and how it compares with the Shimano motor? I quite like the Yamaha on my Haibike, It's certainly good on steep hills. I've done 2000 miles with no motor or battery problems so far.
I had an annoying click for the last two days. I thought I had narrowed it down to the pedals or the bottom bracket. Washed the bike today and regreased the seat post, and thankfully the click has gone. Shows how hard it can be to identify the source of a click or a squeak!
