The metal part looks like a crush washer, its designed to compress when you tighten up against it holding the fastener under tension and less likely to come loose I believe.
I use the Syncros Matchbox Tailor Cage HV1.5. Has all the tools i need except tyre levers plus a half decent pump.

I meant to say earlier I ended up getting some Ergon GA3 grips. I tried my sons deathgrips and they seemed a little too hard. The slight flare for the palm area on the Ergons has helped my comfort.
Yep i can understand that. It looks lovely. I know i for one hummed and hahhed about the Stilus because of the cost. If it had been another grand i couldnt have justified it tbh.
So far ive got away with anything I’ve tried. Its been a bit close on slow tight turns but its been ok. Definitely more inclined to fall to the side than my analogue bikes though.
