Fuel EXe Official Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

It's definitely the motor, resistance is there with the chain removed. Pedals forward great. @njatherton, I'll check the crankarms. @Mteam, picked it up thursday and just had 3 great days of riding on it, so yeah I think I'll just roll with it....

I’ve gotten my EXe back with the motor replaced. New motor has quite a bit of resistance when back-pedaling, anyone else experienced this? It’s fine when pedaling forward, working well otherwise.

Good call on that Reeb! I picked up a Steezl and have been loving it.

Fuel EXe Official Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Can't check at the moment, but my sense is.... not a lot. I've had the bike since Oct '22 and it's been ridden 2-3x week for most of that. Most all my rides tend to be 2500-3500' in <20 miles. I'm guessing around 1000 miles and 200k' total. I've gone through 2 shocks, a rim and lots of tires in...

Fuel EXe Official Trek Fuel EXe Megathread!

Sunday I was 1k' into a steep climb when my motor failed. Even in walk-mode, it sounded kind of like an impact driver and was providing no assist. I assume it was a clutch of some sort. The bike pedaled fine with the motor turned off, so I was able to pedal/push the remainder of the climb and...

I removed the display from my top tube & stuffed some upholstery foam blocks from my local hardware store into the void. This pressed all the cables against the insides of the frame- $5 and too :05. My rattle ended up being a OneUp seatpost- new key bushings fixed it.

Same here, also electrical tape over the seams between display & top tube (invisible on a black bike) PNW Wet riding and weekly hose-offs all last winter, no issues....

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

Yeah, we have very different use cases. Most rides we do hit 2500' within in the first 10 miles. My fave winter loop is 2k' in 6 miles. Plus wetter conditions etc. Finding I need to service rear suspension every 6 months. My Fuel was down for 3 months in the fall due to blown shocks & wheels...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

@Dave_B thats not too bad but I would guess you have some excess fluid in the air can that’s preventing that last bit of travel. If you’re inclined I would look into removing the travel spacer to see if you can get 62.5 or 65mm stroke. You’ll want to make sure the reservoir doesn’t hit the...

Fuel EXe Fuel EXe Suspension Modifications/Questions

@Dave_B have you tried letting all the air out of the shock and compressing the suspension? That might tell you if there’s something amiss with the shock itself. I suspect there is if you’re running 18mm of sag (30%)

Mine's been problem free recently, but I did start cleaning and applying lock-tite to both the lock-ring and crank arm bolts.

I'm surprised the Levo SL seems to have more range/support, I wonder if that could be down to the rider weight differences. Some reviews have said it was under-powered compared to the trek. I rode a fair bit last year with a friend who has a Relay, typically big days. He definitely gets more...

That's a good question. I recall my Ohlins came with the Igus bushings like Fox uses, I had to swap those for a bronze DU bushing like RS uses for the shock hardware to fit correctly. I think my Ohlins was a new take-off so I'm not sure if they typically deliver with those Igus bushings.

I rode most of last year on a 205x62.5mm TTx1. Pros: Reservoir clears downtube regardless of stroke much lighter than coil and pretty dang close in feel Nice supple feel off the top- much better than the stock RS super deluxe select + Easy to tune spring curve with volume spacers and...
