Basically any brand of motor is great whilst it's running as intended.
It's when they go wrong that the different levels of manufacturer support make all the difference!
I have no idea as to the answer but would also be interested to know.
As I understand it, any internal issues (or fault codes indicating them) necessitate full replacement rather than repair.
The EP8 replacement motors ships from the factory with a very large default value for cirucumference. Wheel size (circumference value) is locked from the factory, since it can be used to gain extra top-speed.
If you reduce the circumference value to the minimum the firmware supports (1300) you...
I've noticed that when tightening these cranks (I use genuine Shimano cranks on my EP8) that if you nip up one of the pinch bolts, and then the other one - the first bolt will be loose again.
Therefore it's best to torque the two pinch bolts down in turn progressively, a bit like a car cylinder...
Some in the motoring press have suggested that the 36 percent drag reduction of the EP8 vs the E8000 closes the battery consumption gap somewhat between the two, despite the extra torque available in the newer motor.
But of course nothing is for free. Torque x RPM= Power
I have to be honest, using my EMTB at an uplift-assisted bike park was not a particulary great experience. Unless you have 2 batteries you'll need to charge at lunchtime, and even then, you will still be spending ages e-climbing vs the uplift, with the need to stay in eco mode for most climbs...
For the example of the Heckler 2020 originally fitted with the E8000 being upgraded to EP8, you are ironically better off if you started with the base-model bike. This is because the base-model had the (then new) SC-E7000 display and matching SW-E7000-L mode shifter fitted.
These 'low end...
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't find anything in the forum search.
Does anybody know the paint code (manufacturer or RAL code ideally) for Santa Cruz Rocksteady Yellow as the original paint colour of my 2020 Heckler?
Many thanks in advance!
Fair! They are obliged to knock this idea back for those reasons.
That said, they also day on the offical website FAQ that you can't upgrade your engine to an EP8, which of course you can.. but again warranty out of the window...
Those things are gold dust here in the UK, as well as massively overpriced.
The SD300 wires are also crazy expensive.
They are only red/black power wires inside and can be spliced, soldered, and fitted with shrink wrap tubing.
The battery is not structural on the Heckler.
You can buy the carbon plate that fills the gap under the front triangle, but it will be of limited use since it bolts to the battery and not to the front triangle itself.
If you bought this carbon plate you'd need a way to attach it to the frame...
