    Breaking spokes!

I've always found that once one spoke breaks (without it being caused by impact directly to the spoke) then it's usually followed by another one every few days to a week after that. The only way I've managed to sort it is to get in early, before the rim gets out of shape and get the wheel...

Anyone had issues with WTB rims?

I had a similar issue. Was cleaning the wheels for sale and noticed that every spoke hole had a crack along the rim. All the cracks almost joined up so I'm glad I saw them when I did. The shop replaced them under warranty with the WTB tough version and I sold the wheelset before I rode it.

Hunt, Hope or DT Swiss 29er wheelset

I'm not sure whether DT Swiss had a bad batch or whether it is the riding in Nelson but three out of three of us in the office have been having problems with H1700 wheels breaking spokes very early in ownership. The problem is that the spokes are hard to get hold of. That said, I am choosing to...

    Cleaning chains.

With Squirt all I do is boil the kettle and pour the hot water over the chain. The wax melts, taking the dirt with it. Relube and done.

    Movement in shock mount

Thanks everyone. As much as I like doing my own wrenching, this one seems like a bike shop fix.

    Movement in shock mount

I have a Kona Remote CTRL and have always had a small bit of movement in the shock mounts when I lift the bike from the top tube. I initially assumed that it was caused by worn bushings but it has happened from new. When I take the shock off and put the bolts back through the frame on their own...

Towing Children with a Full Suspension EMTB

I tow my kids a lot. Every ride around here starts with a decent climb so it means they are more interested in riding if they aren't shattered before they get to the top. I have made my own tow system which is just 3m of 3mm dyneema cored cord tied along a 2m length of bungee with a loop at...

    Ergonomics and comfort issues

I found the same thing when I moved to an emtb from a standard mtb. After 12 months of physio set shoulder strengthening exercises I can now ride with no pain at all. In my case it was all to do with the muscle structure not being up to the task of managing the higher speeds and loads. It might...

Kona Owners...Show your bikes & talk Kona

Most of my issues with bikes have something to do with me weighing 115kg and being 6'8" tall (yes I just mixed units there). I managed 1500km before I found the split in the rim. The front rim was also deforming around each spoke although it hadn't started to crack. WTB replaced the rims with...

Kona Owners...Show your bikes & talk Kona

I have one too. It's a cracking bike. Keep an eye on the rims as mine split along the line of the spokes. I've also changed the fork to a Lyrik I had and converted it to coil.

Emtb for very tall people :) - size advice

I'm also 6'8" tall but a fair bit heavier than you at 250lbs or so. I ride one of these KONA BIKES | ELECTRIC | KONA ELECTRIC | Remote CTRL that I have customised to suit me. Changes have been, 29er front wheel, both wheels DT Swiss H1700, new fork so I can run a longer steerer tube and a...

A question for 2018-19 meta power owners.

Yep. I've given up trying to have bikes that look good and instead have bits of rubber and plastic stuck all over the show to protect bearings and drivetrain.

A question for 2018-19 meta power owners.

This is what I've done on my wife's Meta Power. The rubber flap is stuck in place at the bottom using VHB double side tape and zip tied it the top (so you can still pull the bike to bits for servicing). To stop any mud from sneaking over the top of the rubber flap, there is a plastic mud guard...
