An update on this topic would be great... the range extender seems very pricey for what it is... I have to believe you could make your own extender with the proper voltage and adapter cord?? but I make this statement with very close to zero understanding of what is required for a safe, reliable...
I sold my analog (Kona 153) bike as the geometry was just too close to the Rise (modified 150/150) and then bought a new analog that was lighter (Norco Fluid) faster tires,etc.
I would personally push you to the Rise without a doubt but Frankyspec is right, you should find a place that can broker you actually getting on a Rise first… call a dealer who sells them and ask them if they have sold one to anybody or if their Orbea sales rep can be at the shop with one for...
You have a great bike! I have the 2020 version… I only charge it when I get below 30% and sometimes that can be a couple short rides… my battery is still very healthy… I leave it on the charger no more than 5 hours and it has always charged up fully before then.
My 5th wheel has a class III hitch and I put a bike rack in it for transportation and we have 2 bedrooms so the bikes go in the 2nd bedroom when we set up camp anywhere… here in the states I use T-Mobile home internet if where we camp does not have WiFi
Ever since I did this a few years back I have been wearing the TLD Stage.. it fits great, comes with three sets of pads to fit just right and you can purchase replacement parts for the liners… and I am turning 60 this year
Like everything, it depends… I do a lot of my riding with my wife so if I were to ride hers she would not be riding with me… but I had a time when mine was down for warranty work and I rode my analog while she road her ebike in eco/trail mode.. prices are always lower at year end… the only risk...
Just like cars… if you like your bike keep maintaining it… I self maintain for almost everything so it makes it cheaper that way for sure.
There is always aftermarket for batteries btw.
If you find a great deal on a new one and can afford to keep both then do that too! If the market ever gets...
