I think overkill is not a issue if the bike is in your budget. You will improve your riding skills and bike will match a type of riding you are planning to do. Only negative I can think of when buying overkill is the higher price.
I always plan to keep the bike for long time, then the new models come out and I convince myself that I need a new bike. I sell the old bike and buy new one, but I always plan to keep the new bike for very long time🤥
I have kärcher OC 3 plus, 7 litres water tank. It's low pressure, but enough to get bike clean. I live in apartment building and store my bike on the living room, so this has been good solution for me.
I have 4.0 and I like them. Very comfortable, barely notice them. I haven't yet test how good the protection is. I chose 4.0 over 5.0, cause it has the chamois. Chamois is decent, but like with Zimmerframe it sits too forward. Not perfect, but good shorts
