• Warning!!

    Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

    Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

Can ebikedoctor contact me please? It's for the change too 32km/h thx

Anyone knows other ways to unlock other than from EbikeDoctor or via EBT unlock (too expensive)?

(EbikeDoctor refused me because I "asked too many questions". I guess he thinks I am a cop or from Bosch intelligence xD)

Your are living in a country where doing tuning is literally a crime!

Hello, dear ebike-doctor. I'm still a new user and can't message you privately. If you have time, please send me your contact information. I'd like to speed up my Bosch CX 5. I'll be waiting. Thank you!

Hello Ebike-doctor. I have a question, can you please DM me for more info? Thanks a lot, Marc, Netherlands

Hi EbikeDoctor. I sent you a WhatsApp from the link in your signature, I did ask a few questions (because I have had problems already with my Trek) so I hope there were not too many questions and you can help me!! (I saw a post further up which said someone asked too many questions!)

Have you experienced any issues with the Gen 5 and rim magnet when using the 45 km/h software option?

I assume the software-based option would be the safest solution for the Gen 5, since it doesn’t manipulate the speed-sensor signal.

@spinix ?

150 km and still no errors, works perfect 👌🏻.
Let’s hope future checks (or updates) in the Flow app won’t break the 45km/h software.

Has anyone actually got FW that allows up to 45kmh? As far as I am aware that is currently only available for bikes with Gen 5 CX motors sold in New Zealand, and that was a recent upgrade included in the Bosch July update. As far as I was aware the unofficial FW is the USA version which only allows a max assist speed of 32 kmh and that, to date, has survived all Bosch updates!:)

My bike now goes up to 45 km/h, and both the display and the app show the actual speed correctly. I can even adjust the maximum speed in the app (up to 45 km/h).

The only downside is that the bike always starts in “Off” mode, so you have to switch it to the correct mode every time you turn it on. You also get a warning message that you have to dismiss by pressing OK.

Because of that warning, I’m not entirely sure if this is the NZ firmware. As far as I know, this warning only appears on the US firmware.
