Hello, can anyone help please?

The bikes done 1800 easy miles, its got the EVO Dash Screen fitted, suddenly went in slow mode and a spanner appeared on screen.

In the App it shows a error X for the Sync Drive Motor.

No other warning lights, have taken the battery out, held the power button for 15 mins and held the power button with battery out, still the same after putting battery back in.

I have updated the firmware to the latest version.

Searching google it says there is a maintenance screen, not accessible via the app.

I have ridden my 2023 reign e+ for 6700 km and do the check you did and never had that red flag on sync drive.
If you are looking for a rebuild there are places that can rebuild or renew you for a bit cheaper than Giant. Can't recommend any because I have not had any problems with my motor yet.
Let us know what the solution is.

Thanks for the reply, its booked on the 28th July, will see what is wrong with it and will report back here

If you have any speed box / dongle or similar modification, updated motor firmware will now detect the anomaly and 'lock' your bike. Part of Giant's anti-tampering policy which borders on breaching consumer law in many countries.

However there has been plenty of reports of false positives. (Stay away from the app and firmware updates).

Your LBS could diagnose and find the error...if it show error code 6A they can reset the error and everthing will work again.

I have a 2022 +0 and had a problem with the motor. My LBS filed a warrantee claim with Giant and they denied it even though it was still in the warranty time frame. Giant's 2 year warranty is worthless. They wanted $500.00 to look at it and fix whatever the problem was. I ended up finding the problem myself and fixing it for nothing.

Can you please elaborate on the “fix”?

The 'fix' involves, your wallet and a Giant (stealer) dealer. Diagnostic software throws up tampering error code ##, dealer rings Giant distributor who provide unlock code to reset the error flag. Cost is country dependent, but expect somewhere in range USD200-300. GBP325. AUD500. Money for jam...

Imagine if Ford, Toyota, Tesla, BMW did this to their customers vehicles.

Thanks, but I was asking @CaptChip.

Water and electricity don't mix well. #1 electrical issue with any eBike. I am speechless watching that hose ! One flash and you're ASH !

Hello there, here's an update..

I left the bike alone for 10 months, I went to a different Giant Dealer today, explained what happened and he sorted the bike within 2 hours and no charge which is wonderful.

Just rode it, got 19 mph on the flat.

What do you think if the NIS Speedy magnet, they are from NZ so you might know of it?

Hope all is well.

Did the dealer explain what the problem was and their fix ?

The Kiwi magnet is clever and full marks to the lads for putting it all together. Unsure how the device might get around new Giant anti tampering firmwares which detect electronic and magnet re-locations.

Pretty sure it was 6A error...Giant dealer can reset the error quite easy

Hi there, I explained that I took the device out, connected it to the Internet on the app, rode 25mins and he said, that's what happens.

All he said was he reset it and removed the restriction.

Was a decent guy so left happy, I fitted the speedi gadget, works perfect.

No more connecting the bike to the Internet, learnt my lesson on that one.
