Never took to Whiskey. The only spirit that I drink is Gin, but only when I can't find any decent beer. I worked out once that I drink a maximum of 25 units of alcohol per week (mainly less), distributed fairly evenly across the week, no binge drinking.Keep away from the whisky, YKIMS.

I fully concur with your views on grey but that and wishy washy pastel colours seem to be style at the moment, or at least what the manufactures seem to think we want to buy
! I really like the red/black on your old bike, for me bright proper primary colours are what I look for!Regarding your old bike if you can't sell it for close to what it is worth maybe keep and use it as a spare (for those dirty winter days and even for a ride to the shops etc.) slowly take off the good stuff and in a couple of years, if it's still going flog it off for under a thousand. There are a lot of people out there who are prepared to pay 500-750 for an attractive looking e-bike regardless of it's age. Anyone with 2-3K in their pocket will also be in the market for a brand new bike.

I have had a lot to think about in the past month. I ordered the Santa Cruz Vala 90, then while on hols was told "sorry, we can't get one until next year!" What! Yikes! 
I spent time looking at other bikes and rejecting them all. I thought I'd have one more search and used Google Gemini this time. It found three, two of which were non starters, but the third was golden. I just have to go and collect it, more details later.
In the meantime, I came to a conclusion about what to do with my Merida eOne Sixty 9000. I reluctantly accepted that I was unlikely to get more than £1500 for it, maybe as little as £1000. I decided to keep it in the family. I offered it to my grandson for £500, ie a £500 discount on the lowest possible sales price. Then because he has a sister who I want to treat equally, I will give that £500 to her. A cracking bike stays in the family, my grandson got to make some deeply adult decsions about the difference between want and need (after a long night agonising about it), his sister gets a bonus, and I get to ride emtbs with my grandson! Everyone's a winner!

FWIW - re your goal to ride until you're 90...the last time I raced, I was beaten on the podium by a gentleman in his late 80's. To be fair, I was also on the podium, coming in at a respectable 3rd in the over-50 class (there were three of us).
He's been an inspiration to many and I often think of him and his wiry frame when I am feeling old and tired...that man had some stamina.
I recall he even raced the Air DH at Crankworx Rotora one year when in his 70's or 80's!
