False battery cover

I have a Focus Aventura2, and was wondering if anybody has come across a false Battery cover. Our problem is that due to weight restrictions (oldie lifting and Thule towbar carrier), we have to take the batteries off the bikes to travel.
Living in the North of Scotland it is sometime wet and mucky (salty), on the roads, so would like to clip on a false cover to keep the battery cavety slightly cleaner and protected.
BTW we have extended battery fitting as well so the neoprene sleeve no longer fits.

Given that I have even used clingflim wrapped around my feet on a wet and windy day, I should have thought of that!
However, it would still be nice if there was something I could just clip in place .
