Hello, everyone! Any one know why Giant use the Yamaha PW-X series motors, only three power modes, not five power modes? This motor was produced in 2016. And it’s same with Yamaha PW-X motor in shape.

As i ve already told you in your other post,....Update your Display and Motor Firmware via Ridecontrol App /your Smartphone. The Display supports Bluetooth in order to do so....

Incentive for if you don't believe bushkila - 5 modes AND auto if you have a post 2020 pwx. But even in 2018 my giant pwx came with 5 modes

Yes, of course I believe bushkila. I tried to upgrade myself today, but failed. Cell phone is connected to ridecontrol evo. But the phone prompted me to upgrade to a nearby dealer. Now I just connected my phone with display, can do nothing else. Besides, I would like to know the situation (only three power modes) is due to display or motor? And only the display can be upgraded or both display and motor can be upgraded?
Thanks!

It is due to the display. I don't know if an upgrade can turn the display from 3 to 5 modes. If you have trouble with the app you should use an old version like 1.4.2 available on apkpure. Lot of problems with last version (1.4.5).

Today the motor was upgraded to the latest version, display there are only 3 modes, it is estimated that this display and motor do not match.

That means there are two types of Ridecontrol Evo, one with 3 modes and one with 5 modes, right?

I think there are three types - another with a sixth ( auto) mode that displays when you scroll down from off, compatible with post 2020 motors.

But even the early pre 2019 evo screens came in different versions with different levels of water protection ( you can only tell them apart from the rear)

I feel sorry for a lbs trying to order replacement parts!

I can't remember if I'm on screen 3 or 4 at the moment.....this is the rear if screen 1/2

Thank you very much. Do you know how to tell the difference between the three modes and the five modes of RIDECONTROL EVO?

Sorry, I have no idea if it's different screens or different software. The only hint I have is when my 2018 motor was replaced by a 2020 motor, giant also replaced the screen so I suspect the screens are not interchangeable between a pwx 1 or 2 motor. Or giant just decided to replace everything because they had no idea what was causing the issue?

If it wasn't such a pita to get to the plug in the frame I'd try my old screen with the new motor, but I'm not THAT curious.

Just out of interest, what country are you in?

I'm in China. If it is convenient, can you send a picture of the back of your 2018 screen? Thank you!
