Water Crossings

What are the Do's and Don'ts of water crossings on an EMTB?
Some of my local trails run up/down stream beds and there is also the occasional ford crossing.
Do I need to ensure the water level is always below the bottom bracket/motor?
Cheers

There is differing information out there on this, but I would say common sense says you dont want to submerge the motor, they are designed to be waterproof for riding in the wt, mud splashes etc etc but not to be submerged.

My motor has been submerged quite a lot on my Levo. Still works but I know it's not the smartest idea :p

l would say don't submerge the motor. lf you submerge the motor it's highly likely you will get water inside the casing.
It may not be enough to stop it working immediately, but eventually you will get a failure.
Water damage will likely write off the motor, rather than (say) bearing failure, which can usually be repaired.
