Hi
Has anyone got any experience of "Warranty support" and Blazing Bikes in Shropshire, feeling frustrated as no replies to emails for over a month, re Trek 2021 rail seat post play?

My personal experience of Trek warranty is that it’s been outstanding every time I’ve had to use it.
Rear rim cracked: new wheel
Rear axle snapped: new pair of wheels
Crank snapped: new pair of cranks
Frame cracked: new frame or new bike with huge discount.

All were sorted very quickly (the frame took 24hrs!) but that’s down to the quality of the bike shop as well as Trek.

Stop emailing and pick up the phone, it’s much harder to ignore.

What’s actually wrong with the dropper?

Yeah I tried picking the phone up, multiple times, always goes to answer mc, I know they are only a tiny shop, and I guess ultra busy, at this time, but they shift bikes like there's no tomorrow, can't understand the lack of support.

My bike has only done 421 miles, the seat dropper has got excessive play in it, and both rear wheel bearing have failed, I gave them the opportunity to answer on these issues and they did initially reply, stating "the dropper may be covered, but bearings are possibly "fair wear and tear" in the end I replaced the bearings, since then no other comms, until this morning when I posted on there FB page, and suddenly I get a response, I see where it goes now.

Was your support from them?
Cheers

Whoops, it was meant to be "Blazing Bikes" I think the other one was a film.....?, I bought off them before and everything was fine, but this time its just a little bit frustrating with the support, also I'm not local so can't just take the bike in.

No. My LBS is Two Wheels in Stourbridge.
seat dropper has got excessive play in it
Can you define "excessive"? My dropper has a bit of lateral movement if you twist the saddle, but everydropper I've ever owned has been the same.
What brand is it? You may be able to go direct. The seat clamp on the KS dropper on my Powerfly cracked (probably from having my fat arse on it... :ROFLMAO: ) and I dealt direct with Jungle, the UK agent for KS, who replaced the clamp and serviced it FOC.
rear wheel bearing have failed
I'd say fair wear and tear on that. I'm on the second set of rear wheel bearings myself.

Compared to when I bought the bike in July, probably moves 2-3mm either way, I've pretty much owned every type out their now, and it reminds me of "Joplin", its a Bonty dropper

Yeah, I've accepted that, piss poor though considering it a 5.6k bike, completely unknown make of bearing with next to nothing grease in.

Sounds about the same as mine. Let me know how you get on and I'll put a claim in for mine if you're successful.

I've always got good warranty through my lbs with Trek, fork lowers replaced and rebuilt after some stiction issues.
My Bontrager dropper has play too - bugs me a little when I see it but I've never noticed it while riding so never bothered getting it looked at.

Good luck with getting through to Blazing Bikes. I had an issue earlier this year and I won't go into details but the only way it got resolved was to get Trek UK involved and ended up putting the bike in the back of my van drove 200 miles and returned the bike myself.
Hope you have a better experience?

I had an email from them yesterday after I posted on their FB page, I replied almost immediately, and guess what, NO Reply SINCE!!! I feel they are showing their true colours now.
Very disappointing for the brand, when they say they're the biggest Trek retailer in the UK

Still no reply from them, but interestingly they've deleted my comments that I made to one of their FB posts, I didn't write anything bad about them, evidently they didn't like it though.

Do I get Trek UK involved or wait a further 7 days?

Their communication isn't as good as other bike shops I've used, but ok on the email responses.
Unfortunately if you have bought a bike from a shop that's not local or a reasonable drive (1 hour is my limit) this is going to happen, they need to see the part/bike, still can't beat walking into a shop.
Consider yourself lucky it's not a motor or frame issue.

I purchased my Rail 7 from them earlier this year. Quick to respond and deal with my questions when purchasing but I also asked them to throw a knock block adapter in with the bike which wasn’t done for delivery. I emailed them 3 times about it and called multiple times with no success so just gave up as I couldn’t be arsed chasing them up anymore. It was such a minor thing and it was starting to get me annoyed and I just wanted to enjoy the bike. Which I very much am doing.

Funnily enough they are about an hour from me, so anything serious they will be getting a visit, but for minor issues like the dropper, I would have thought that the email route would have been easier for them also??

I know there a tiny place, but they keep on saying that they are the UK's premier trek dealer Hmmmm, perhaps Trek need to hear this??

Yeah they tried fobbing me off with “we sent it” ..but it’s not listed on the delivery note. If I could have bought locally I would have but nobody had stock. I live in Scotland so they are too far away to just nip down. Perhaps an email to Trek UK is required then to action some of these issues. Maybe pop in a link to this thread?

I had a warranty claim with them back in April after my rail battery fell out when riding, communication from them wasn’t great but they sorted the claim quick enough. I’ve got a feeling though that you can put in a warranty claim with any of treks dealer network so don’t have to use them, could be wrong though

I also had an issue with the Kiox buttons letting water in after its 4th outing, which they initially sorted fairly quickly, but now it's a different matter, I've sent them two further emails and called them 3-4 times since starting this thread and no reply at all.

Has anyone else used another Trek dealer, and if so what was you're experience?

421 miles! That doesn't sound right
That's what I thought, Heres a post from another thread about a Levo's bearings, the ones in the Trek wheels are exactly the same, double lipped on one side only, shame Trek don't extend the warranty, like Spesh do, personally, I don't consider 421 miles to be "fair wear and tear"

"The original bearings were XERO 6903 LBLU and only had the double lip seal on the outside LU (orange colour) with a single lip on the inside LB (black colour)
If the single seal lip fails then it’s open to ingress of moisture and dust. This is likely with hi speed hi temp bearings. With the dual lip seal, if the inner lip fails, which is the most likely, then the tougher outer lip still provides a positive seal.

Specialised had offered to do a warranty on the bearings as they had only done 2000km. They do not usually warranty bearings as they are considered a wear item and therefore not covered."
