The bikes run small so go bigger.
If the med feels to big, then the small will feel too small.
I have a med and wished I had gotten a large.
I just put a longer stem on and pushed the seat back and it's fine now.

What's your stats? Height / Inside Leg etc.
I'm thinking the Levo actually run large, as I'm for sure a medium in every other bike including my StumpJumper which is essentially the same non electric bike.

I'm 5'6 and weigh 168lbs
Inseams like 30.
My medium feels small, compared to my pals large, which feels just right.
I'm a medium on most all other bikes too, but I only got the medium because I got a screamin deal on it.
I put a longer stem on it, and moved the seat all the way back, and it feels much better.
Size up. The bikes run small.
If your in between sizes, it's always advisable to size up.
My .02
Good luck

That's utterly bizarre as I was just measured at the weekend by a specialized authorised dealer, we test drove a medium carbon comp to establish a base. After some testing, it was apparent that's the medium was too big for me, substantially!

Which is bizarre because I'm bigger than you/taller than you/same weight as you ~75kg.

That's baffled me, hence the creation of this thread initially, as I was was surprised that a medium was to big for me. But I sat on it, and was 6" away from the pedals (with the dropper / seat fully extended) and could only JUST touch the floor (with tip toes) with the dropper/seat completly down/fully declined (at its absolute lowest).

How can you be smaller/shorter than me and find a medium far to small, yet the exact same bike, when I get on it, I can't touch the pedals/floor and it's grossly oversized for me, and I'm the taller of the two?

:D

Specialized dealers, im beginning to think they hadn't me on an XL if that's the the case :)

My other half is 5ft 8" and she though the bike was too big too? She couldn't stop the bike without being off the seat as otherwise she too could not touch the floor (dropper at its absolute lowest)?

Default Carbon Comp 2018 Spec (Specialized authorised fitting/testing day) we took the bike out etc?

I'm utterly baffled by this?

Literally the opposite part of the country :(
I'm going to go to another shop and get measured again. This is total BS though, I didn't place my order on an S-Works (Medium) because when Specialized measured me on a medium, the medium was far too big. CRAZY BIG! I looked like a child on all clown bike. I was literally 6" away from the PEDALS at full extension of the seat and around 12" away from the floor! It was mental.

So I decided to contact specialized directly they said 2019 models are incoming July, pre order a small as soon as they are announced and I'll be good to go. So I'm waiting.

If I can fit into a medium I'll buy and would have bought a an S-Works from Freeborn as they were cool and my offered me an "ok" deal on one, and have my size.
But after physically sitting on and being measured on a medium and not being able to touch the pedlas or floor, I decided do im not paying over £7500 for a bike that's too big for me (I'd pay less if the deal was STONKIN but not 7500 for a bike I don't fit into) :)

Measured very quickly the other night, with jeans on, and using a tape measure (not a Taylor's measure) so not incredibly accurate, I was around 74/76cm (30in) but this measurement will be slightly shorter that what I actually am, as I didn't measure right up the inside just around my crotch are on the outside of my jeans, to the floor. So my actual inside leg will be slightly longer if I remove my jeans and measure correctly with a Taylor's measure tape :)

My jeans are are a 32" leg so I'm around somewhere between 30/32" inside leg.
172.5cm (5ft 7" (closer to 5ft 8" technically) 5ft 7.71"
~72/75kg
Size 8 shoes :)

Test drove a Carbon Comp and was measured In store, on a specialised default, as sold, carbon comp 2018 by an authorised specialised dealer.

Bike was fitted to me, am deathly they were laughing as at one point the guy held the bike, I climbed on to the seat, sat on the seat, and my feet were around 6" away from the pedals (seat fully extended) and around 10" off the floor.

When they dropped the seat/post I still couldn't stand up (while seated) without assistance as only my tiptoes could touch the floor and I had to bounce from left to right (push from foot to foot) when stationary to avoid falling off.

They advised I must buy a small, as it's dangerous and I h have no room for down hill. Neciase even with the Dropper at full decline. The biked was essenatlly to big or just fit, but this left no room for removeimg the seat out the way on declines as it couldn not decline any further.

Your legs are no shorter than mine, you need to find a better bike shop!

Yea but I was there, it was me on the bike, it was genuinely offensively oversized for me :)

I actually made them check the serial number as I could not believe it was a medium. He typed it into the computer and it came back exactly what it was.

I was unable to get on or ride the bike unless the seat was absolutely 100% at its absolute lowest point. Which negates the use of the dropper etc at this point.

So I made a bread about sizing trying to garner information about seats madman riders heights hoping everyone would drop their post and stand over the bike, but I didn't get my much info only from bigger riders.

But after everything i have experienced, I think I'm a small. Which is mental as I'm taller than you but your saying a medium is too small for you, but I'm saying the medium drowned me :)

You're not taller than me, I'm 1.77m.

I still think you need to try a different bike shop, even if it means you have to try a different make ebike.

Ok theres something wrong here my wife inside leg is about 28 and the dropper seatpost is as far in the seat tube as it will, go. with a 125mm drop it gives perfect pedal hieght. With the dropper dropped she can sit on the saddle with both feet flat on the ground. Bike is a medium

problem is its as much about feel on the bike as the actual size when you come down to it - i have had M and L bike from different manufacturers where the stats say one thing, but the feel on riding the bike tells me the other. Alway difficult when you are between sizes. May be worth looking at a One Up Components dropper which has a much lower stack height than most dropper posts, which can make quite a difference to getting a frame to fit.

Hence the thread, I was as confused (if not more) than anyone!
My only thought, is that the bike was indeed a large (or above) and was somehow listed incorrectly by both the store and it's specialized serial number.

I'm tempted to go back in (as the bike Is on the shop floor) jump on it, take a photo of my feet 6" away from the ground on this "medium" and show you guys. Honestly is mental large! I rode it for hours and it was HUGE on me :)

The problem is, this farce from specialized (and my bike shop) has delayed by initial purchase and now because of their ineptitude, I'm stuck between a rock And a hard place.

I can buy an S-Works, but I'm now at that point where I'm thinking, do I bother to buy an sworks now, when I know the Expert 2019 is for sure coming in 8 weeks?

I don't need an sworks that's overkill for me personally. And the depreciation will be nuts, as it will very likely drop in a value substantially in august when the 2019s are released.

I think a 2019 Expert Carbon for £6250 is better than a 2018 S-Works Carbon for £8000.

However, when I went into the bike shop, I had the cash (card) with me and ready to buy, but after they measured they agreeed the medium was no good, and we began looking for a small, no smalls available, hence email to specialized asking if they'd had stock, they said no, hence thread... now release date announced for 2019 models in July, therefore rock And hard place.

Medium 2018 S-Works Carbon £8000 (apparently to big for me)
or
Small 2019 Expert Carbon £6250 (correct size according to measurements taken at soecialized dealer)

What would be interesting, would be to know the rolling measurements if you were able to get them.

Height from floor to seat, when dropper fully retracted/sear post fully inserted (seat at absolute lowest - seat post 0% dropper 0%)

Height from floor to seat, when dropper fully retracted/seat post fully extended (seat post 100% / dropper 0%)

Height from floor to seat, when dropper fully extended/seat post fully extended (seat at absolute maximum - seat post 100% dropper 100%)

On a medium carbon Turbo Levo would be absolutely critical here, as this would resolve everything. I can then measure that against the bike they had me on, or just trust you guys and buy a medium and bypass the store completely (as they have caused more problems than they have solved)

6" away from reaching the pedals, on a M Levo, with the seatpost as low as it will go, seat fully dropped, your inseam shoud be below 50cm. Definitely go back, I'm curious to know what's going on :)

Agreed!

Because not once did I ever say what you 2 just said/wrote?
Of course that makes no sense, that would be utterly ludicrous :)

If you read what I wrote, then read what you wrote, you will see that not only have you got it wrong, you couldn't be more wrong, you have completely reversed/distorted what I actually wrote and then gone on to state something, that I never once stated, which is utterly ludicrous?

At no point have ever said, stated, insinuated or described anything close to what you wrote, in fact, I wrote the exact polar opposite!

What's even more surprising, is that an admin has also chimed in saying it doesn't make sense, well of course it doesn't, as I never once said what he wrote? :D

Maybe read my posts Rob before saying it doesn't make sense, you are an admin, and stating that my direct experience doesn't make sense, discrediting it and validating a post that's actually 100% factually inaccurate (and the exact opposite of what I actually wrote) is disheartening (people see you as an authority figure)

You've just provided your validation and "seal of approval" to post that's entirely false, made up, distorting the truth and falsifying what I actually wrote and... well... let's call it what it is, a lie!

Please read the posts and don't just agree (and essentially validate) false posts.
Validating posts that are false, and not what the OP was stating is incredibly poor moderation. Validating a post, that someone randomly wrote, without checking its facts first, completely discredits you!

He lied, distorted the truth, made a completely false claim that he made up entirely, then you come along agree with his lie, distortion, false claim (side affect discredits me) without checking what he wrote was correct... WOW!

As an admin I expect better. That's incredibly disappointing!
You both are stating, the polar opposite of what I actually wrote.

This is just disappointing!

If you read my actual posts you will see I never once, ever stated, EVER! That I am 6" away from the pedals with the seat post and dropper as low as they could go?

I never one said my feet were 6" away from the PEDALS with the SEAT POST and DROPPER POST at their LOWEST!

What complete and utter nonsense!

That is strange, i'm 173cm and tested the medium.
Seatpost extracted to the number 9 (almost completly out) for a perfect fit.
I tested the large but didn't feel wright.
We measure about the same and such a difference??

@Cyclone you're making this very hard for us to understand, both in the way you are posting and what you are posting as what you are saying makes no sense.
The measurements you have given should suit a medium, yet you say it is too big by a considerable margin. This makes no sense.

That's the point Of the thread though, I'm trying to get sizing from other medium riders as i am convinced my specialized dealer had me on a large not a medium, and they were wrong.

I'm believe I'm a medium, as I'm a medium on my other bike, so I'm confused by the disparity of the medium Levo I tested, it was too big for me. So I came home and asked other medium riders to do a quick measure.

@Cyclone - I’m actually agreeing with you, as in it doesn’t make sense that you dont fit a medium bike when I’d expect you to at least have a better fit than what you’ve described.

I have no intention of discrediting you at all, I think you’re getting mixed up here.

Because the "medium" i tested on my testing day ATM my specialised dealer, was too big for me? They measured me, measured the bike, set the bike up, we took it out for a few hours and the bike was not right for me. They actively stopped the Salem as they said... this bike is too big for for you. You need a small! (And it was)

I Came home, asked other medium users if they had the sameness measurements etc as I didn't believe a medium could Ben to big for me. So I asked actual users.

My currently medium bike I see fine, so I began to question, did they have me on the wrong size bike.

So I asked them to check the serial number, they checked and said it was a medium, but I think I can't possibly have been because it was in fact to big for me.

I'm not questioning users, I'm getting advice!

All this is in the posts, I suspect people aren't reading the entire posts. I'm no that's questioning, or saying anyone is incorrect, or saying a medium is too big.. I'm getting your sizes and measurements so I can go back into the store and measure them again their bike, with a photo and prove them wrong as I believe I am a medium.

It's really rather simple.

No the post you quoted stated that I said the following:
"6" away from reaching the pedals, on a M Levo, with the seatpost as low as it will go, seat fully dropped"
6" away from reaching the pedals, on a M Levo, with the seatpost as low as it will go, seat fully dropped, your inseam shoud be below 50cm. Definitely go back, I'm curious to know what's going on :)

But I NEVER said this EVER!
So of course that makes no sense, I never ever said such nonsense!
He is mocking me saying I must have legs under 50cm to do be able to do what I am suggesting. But I never suggested such a notion, I never suggested i was 6" away from the pedals with seat and dropper fully retracted. Not once! That's mental!

Then Dom gave me a "crap post" marker for advising that Knut literally made up a false post, and claimed I said it?

So I take that as in, if someone blatantly lies, makes up a post about someone, the person who was lied about gets "crap post" when they call the liar out :D

Brilliant!

SOmeone made up a lie, a false statement, said that I said it... I said no I did not (and provided evidence of this) and DOM marks my post crap post haha :D brilliant!

SO I can now literally make up any old nonsense about DOM, claim that he said it, and if he defends himself and proves he didn't say it, mark it as a crap post. WOW! Haha!

I'm done here!

You guys seem to think I'm saying the medium can't fit someone my height! I'm not saying that, never said that? I'm trying to find out how many medium riders, my height, are riding a medium, and if they'd lower the posts etc can they touch the ground as the "medium" my specialized dealer had me on, I was unable to do this. They didn't sell me the bike as they've said it would be wrong to spend that kind of money on the wrong size.

I didn't think I was a small, so I questioned them directly via email and in store and got evidence from users here. So I can go back, measure their bike and say! You fools, you measured me on a large. I think THEY are incorrect and I'm trying to get data to validate it.

WTF? We are trying to help you!

By making up false posts?
By making up false quotes?
By making up false statements and claiming I said things i didnt?

How on earth is that helping. Genuinely curious?

Because I see that as distracting/dishonest and my character would not allow me to do so. Perhaps we have different morals, and/or what kind of people we are.

Wow, that escalated quickly.

I'm on my way out now, so I'll be quick. An M should almost fit someone your size, and I don't get why was way too big. I summed up my understanding of what you wrote, and encouraged you to go back so we could figure out why the bike was so far from a fit. I'm not being mean intentionally. If I misunderstood what you have been trying to explain, then please let me know what is wrong.
