I was a long way from safety today and forgot my power link doh but managed to take 2 links out and rejoin to get back I've never snapped a chain before the outer plates just peeled apart?

On an emtb it is even more important to shift with mechanical sympathy, ie back off the power slightly when shifting. I have 1060 miles on the original chain and it's still only 0.4%. In my riding gear I weigh 92kg (203lbs, 14.5stone).

Why change the cassete? It shall last a thousand miles more... mine is doing fine at 1400 km even though I have broken the chai twice.

The chains are prone to breaking on EMTB's, it can take a slightly duff shift and a power input to do it, or just bad luck. I think I have snapped the chains on my emtb about4 time in the last couple of years

Yeah seems so tbh I've spoke to a few bike reps and they all told me just to replace it with solid pin deore chain and that the e bike chains really aren't any better so that's what I'm doing?

Broke the same chain on first ride. Peeled apart just as you say..wore another out in 277 miles. I do not buy kmc chains anymore.
