problem with shimano steps switch upgrade....

hi, I just purchased the Shimano Steps E-Bike SW E7000-R Right Shift Switch w/ EW-SD50 to upgrade the paddle shifters my meta power with steps 8000 motor. plugged new switch in but as all it does is make an audible beeping but will not switch power modes.

the steps system is fully updated. did I buy the wrong switch?

Should be this switch, the SW E7000-L

The SW E7000-R is the mode controller for DI2 Gears if you have them fitted.

The description the the Shimano website is very misleading as it states "power mode change" so I suppose it's an easy mistake to make.
Any way if you can't send it back then post it up for sale, I may be interested
