Looks good in red , not see one in that colour , have you done any mods? , we’re having a debate that the gearing may be a bit low with the 34 front ring and contemplating a 36 or even a 38 ? Haven’t got to try any very hard climbs yet so second is the most I’ve really used

Mods are bars, stem, grips, pedals, seat, stans tubeless, shortened cables and a spring.

Eyeing the 2019 Lyrik in red. At a minimum, I would like the 170 or 180 upgraded air shaft kit.

A 2019 DebonAir upgrade kit will be available as an aftermarket upgrade if customers want to spruce up their RockShox Lyrik, Yari, Pike, and Revelation forks (MSRP $42 USD | €47 | £42).

Few talking points there , I thought the bars would be too high when I saw Them but trying them lower didn’t work for me . Stem length seems ok I’ve got the seat quite far back so I don’t think a shorter stem would help me .
Shorten cables and a spring done that already, standard spring is very light , but at £25 the right spring isn’t expensive
Have you used stans rim strips or just stans fluid , I found the tubeless set up as standard was very good with the rim tapes it came with , shame it didn’t come with valves .
Going to try a 36 front ring , current gearing could be a tad low and I find Iam often between gears .

I really like the 481mm reach, makes all my other bikes feel small. I was worried about the seat tube length, but my old seat is a few mm shorter than the stock volt. Stan's fluid and valves. I also was thinking of a 36 ring, but I like the clearance of the 34 for now.

The bike came with a 10sp road bike chain, not the ex1 listed. Bent one link, so it's a bit shorter now. I have an EX1 chain ready to go sitting in my toolbox. The chains appear identical with the exeption that the EX1 has a matte finish instead of polished. $2 price difference at retail.

I’ll let you know what the 36 ring is like ,as you say the clearance is quite tight , I think the current gearing is quite low , I have used bottom gear a few times but it’s got to be a very steep and technical climb to really need it . Hoping the 36 will raise my gears by around a half ratio that will be just right I think .
Interesting what you say about the chain , good to know a normal 10 speed will work , the ex1 looks heavier duty to me , but not compared close up as my other bikes are 11 speed , maybe the ex1 wasn’t available last year , I wonder if a 10 speed cassette would work ?
170 fork conversion sounds interesting , not sure how much it will change the front geometry and feel , it doesn’t feel particularly slack as it is so could be a good upgrade with a little more ground clearance into the bargain , not expensive iether

The 36 front ring has worked well ,lowest gear is still fine for even the hardest climbing , and Iam using it mainly set on low settings in trail , japsured fitted a 38 but it’s a very tight fit

Rode some steep climbs, staying with the 34 tooth sprocket. Then a stick ended my day early.

Repaired. My previous b-adjustment was off. Needs a 22mm gap when sagged.

It does help. I also noticed I am at 30% sag with the 600 lb spring. I weigh in at 210 lbs.

Kernow, what spring and sag are you running?

Found the EU compliance sticker when repairing the bash guard.

Looks like that’s getting some use . Iam a bit disappointed with the bashguard , Iam looking at ways to improve it , so far all I can think of is cutting up an old tyre to line it . Don’t want it to become a mud trap though .

Is that plastic? The bash guard on the Trek is aluminium.

Just a heads up, check you axle pivot bolt. Mine came unbolted today, it was a third of the way out, before I noticed my rear end wobbling. Luckily the nut on the other side didn't fall out, the chain guide kept it from falling off. Glad I was on regular trail and not coming down a dh section, would've of probably ended badly. Be safe.

FYI - I contacted Commencal about the flimsy bashguard. They said they were disappointed with it also, but didn't want to delay the first run. They have already designed and approved a replacement that will become available in about 2 months. No pics, but has to to be better.

Found my cassette loose today. I removed it months ago to grease the inner spacer as it was creaking. Torqued to spec, but it worked itself loose.

The Lyrik air shaft kits are still a few months out.

Good news on a bashguard ,
My cassette came loose too and I tightened it really well when the bike was new , I know cassettes loosening is not unusual but it was really loose , 5 th gear rattling was the first sign I guess because it’s the first of the single rings .
Kept an eye on it and it’s stayed tight since .
Fitted a new chain this week too , .75 wear at around 400 miles, it has been really mucky conditions though

Updated firmware to 4.4.5, no noticeable change.

Still waiting on the air shaft. 160 and 180 are in stock, not the 170.

Passed 500 miles, needed rear pads. Ordered some metallic to replace the organic.

Adjusted the travel of the 160 Lyrik to 170 with the updated Debonair air shaft.

Noticeable improvement. Less hand numbness. Plush and tracks better. Slightly floaty steering when seated, but better overall when standing and going downhill.

Foam seals were a bit dry and there was less than 10cc of oil in each leg.

I forgot my Bluetooth passkey, the only way to reset it is with a sm-pce1. Found one on ebay for $133.

The log states the wheel size is set to 2230.
