Mate's having similar issues with orange.
2nd frame cracked..
Only now superseded by the surge he's been offered a new frame foc which is within the warranty period for the frame only
Battery will fit but won't come with the cover as it'll cost him to upgrade to full surge wiring loom etc.
Think I'd shout a bit louder and get the full job rather than frankenshtoons Munster ....

Chain stays ?? Really? Where have you heard that ?
I am on my second frame , a turquoise 727 one and it has actually been ok after about 6 months of pretty hard use. I regularly check around that seat tube area

Mine has been perfect so far and I don’t treat it like a princess. I’ll keep an eye on it of course. If it fails it fails, warranty covers you and given what we put these bikes though parts will fail every now and then.

Is there a brand which doesn’t have issues? I know Specialised make their bikes from cheese. Any other brands have known faults?

Just to re-energise this thread... I’m the new snapped Overvolt team member! Bikes done less than 400km’s, most of which is low impact trails as single track with just one journey to BPW last week which ended at lunchtime... (3 Blues and an easy Red). My local dealers been awesome, especially as I bought the bike online from another AD, and they’re now dealing with Raleigh. It’ll be interesting to see what happens now as a lot of the earlier posts here got replacements but then it progressed to refunds! I’ll keep you posted ??

Blimey. Mines still going strong, but maybe she’ll snap and I can spend the refund cash on a lung bike.

are these all on the seat post?

Yeah, it seams that they’re all in exactly the same location! To be honest I didn’t even know it was a common issue until this evening, I broke mine over a week ago and never thought to Google it, I just assumed mine was a one off weld failure perhaps! I’m a bit gutted I looked, I’m scared they might give me another one now ?

I do believe , with what frames they have left , they have modified them. My second frame is going strong and I’ve given it even more stick that the first, ( which is really quite a lot) I keep an eye on the suspect area but 6 months on the new frame and all good so far!

what with a 5-year warranty, I do wonder what they'll do when they run out of frames? it's not as simple as replacing it with the newer version of the frame. an ebike probably needs a new motor and battery combo at least! from my understanding, the ep8 motor uses the same mounts but the snake battery isn't going to work with anything else and Lapierre hasn't even announced a replacement model anyway!!

Im fairly sure that frame is now discontinued so anyone with this fault in the future will be offered a new model. I know when mine snapped they said they down have a replacement frame so was offered a different bike or refund.

Hey, lapierre/Raleigh were fab, give them a call and they will give you a call and offer options.. If there bikes were as good as the customer service then they would be minted...

This was mine a couple of months ago - they were great about replacing it though. But it lasted for 2 years before breaking, so it can happen anytime ...

Mine took 3 months to sort! In fairness to Raleigh 2 of those were wasted between bike shops but when I finally got through to Raleigh direct it was okay! mine was a 627 that snapped completely (see previous post), Lapierre didn’t have a replacement until April 2021 but Raleigh found a 927 frame. I rejected that because I would have ended up with a Frankenstein bike worth not a lot so finally after much faffing I got a 2021 Haibike Allmtn 6.0 straight from Raleigh... Can’t fault the Haibike yet and I had no confidence whatsoever in another Lapierre! Good luck folks...

Well mine has just let go on me now! Has done approx 1200kms in the 11 months I’ve owned it and was a fun bike before it happened. Now trying to get it sorted under Warranty but have to go through Lapierre direct as the company selling them here in NZ has gone under. Hopefully since it’s a common issue with these bikes the process won’t take too long so I can get back out in the forest ASAP

Mine same. 927i. Mine is out of warranty though ( won't fulfil it , long story) had to cut / grind mine out , weld it, them weld a collar over it. Done 1000 miles more on it and it's been superb. Shame but that's what happens when you buy second hand.....

Strange that they wont fulfil the warranty as it is a kown fault with the bikes... Great bikes if they didnt snap in half :)

My (past) way with snapierre.... I will never understand why, with all these frames craking, they alway permit at all the AM overvolt riders to ride again with this dangerous bike!

Yup. Have a 2019 AM727i has exactly the same problem. Will have to go through frame warranty claim for it. So gonna have to get another bike. It’s not done a lot of mileage, as was sick long term with covid in 2020.

Hi, I would like to revive this thread.
I have now the same problem - crack at same position. My 727 is 4 years old with about 7500km.
The usual 2 years warranty is over but the frame warranty of 5 years still applies. Frames are not available anymore.
Accentry, the new owner of Lapierre offers current market value as refund if I return the bike.
But they did not mention a concrete amount yet.

Does somebody have experience on refunds within the frame warranty period for Lapierre Bikes? What did you get? What can I expect?

I am also thinking about getting it welded. There is a bike workshop close to me offering that service.
