• Warning!!

Riding a tuned or deristricted EMTB is not a trivial offence and can have serious legal consequences. Also, many manufacturers can detect the use of a tuning device or deristricting method and may decline a repair under warranty if it was modified from the intended original specification. Deristricting EMTB's can also add increased loads for motors and batteries. Riding above the local law limit may reclassify the bike as a low-powered bike, requiring insurance, registration and a number plate.

Be aware of your local country laws. Many laws prohibit use of modified EMTB's. It is your responsibility to check local laws. Ignoring it, has potential implications to trail access, and risk of prosecution in the event of an accident.

this method worked great for about 10kms then i suddenly got an E014 error and lost all motor assistance. E014 is a speed sensor error.

i am guessing that the newer firmware detects that the cadence and the speed sensor are exactly the same and spits the error.

i had to ride 10kms home with no assistance and put everything back the same as factory but i left the other magnet on the crank arm because i was in a hurry.

rode off and waited for the system to reset and after about 2kms it still hadn't kicked back in.

for a bit i wondered if i'd wrecked my bike but then finally took the magnet off the crank arm and a minute of riding everything was back to normal.

how would the system detect the magnet on the crank arm or was t just a coincidence?
