Hi everyone,

I have been riding mountain bikes for the last 20 years.

I recently had a large operation on my abdomen and I decided to treat myself to a Emtb. I thought why the hell not.

After a lot of research I decided to get a turbo Levo. I had some credit with Evans cycles after a bike refund and happily ordered the 2020 turbo Levo fsr on Thursday.

I happily picked it up on Friday and was over the moon. Had quick cycle in the car park before putting it in my car. It did work but after one kick of the motor to speed it stopped and flashed a blue and red light. I thought must be the battery.

I charged the battery to full and had a try this morning and was very disappointed that the error happened again. I checked the app and the fault was the speed sensor

I took the bike back to Evans cycles Gateshead and they updated the firmware and no change. The took in workshop and 20 mins later said they will have to send it back to specialized. I could wait and get a new one ordered or get a refund. I took the refund. The shop assistant was great really and said they have had 3 Levos with problems so far this week.

I was wanting to know is this something that another bike shop could have fixed ? Are they just scared / not willing to open up and inspect. Incase of voiding the warranty.

Had anyone else had this issue ?

I love the look of Levo and I loved just sitting on the bike and having a pedal :( no motor was even pretty fun.

Thanks for any advice

Cheers

I got a 2019 Levo last week and on my first ride I got an red/blue light error. Checked the codes and it was "Battery Not Connected". Turns out the cable down by the crank, where you charge the battery, was loose. Pushed it back in and all's been well. But it didn't seem like it had a positive lock to keep it in, so I'm expecting it to fall out again.

I know its not the same as your issue, but the quality control/design doesn't appear to be 100%.

Good luck with getting it replaced. Great bike to ride when it works..;-)

99% it would have been the battery lead, 10 mins to replace.

Hi, I’m gonna nip to my lbs tomorrow and have a chat and see if they have XL that might tempt me.

I went for the Levo as I heard they have great customer service via dealers etc and I am a little dubious about buying a EBike from a online retailer for the scenario that happened today and having to send back to somewhere like Germany

Would that give a wheel sensor fault on the app diagnosis?
This is why Im Thinking of going to a more specialist EMTB / levo shop. Who would not be so willing to brush off the issue - or just not willing to open it and try and fix it. Easier for them to just send back I guess.

I'm lucky enough to be in driving distance from an excellent dealership, which specialises in Levos.
I've had two cables fail and both were diagnosed and fixed within the hour.
Unfortunately from your location you are no where near me.
Your ownership experience is greatly influenced by the dealership you buy from.
A friend of mine bought a Kenevo from one of the big chains and he was without his bike for 3 weeks while they sorted out his dropper post!

I've seen a blue/red error flash up (no doubts there lots of variations) and had a the motor cut out on a couple of very rough trails. I traced it down to tiny (or at least very small) metalic flakes on the connectors. The same flakes that my cat magnet cat-flap fob gets covered in, not very big but just big enough to stop the connectors seating 100%. Worth checking for if you see this issue, and a bit of a nitemare to remove, as everythings magnetic!

We had a red blue error flash when test riding before purchase. Tech replaced “speed sensor cable”. All good. Took 30 minutes. Love the bike after couple hundred miles.?

Paul Mac is spot on, mine done the same thing, battery lead was crook, new one fitted under warranty, problem solved.

Why would so many of these bikes have a faulty battery lead when brand new?
Can’t they sort this shit out before it gets to the customer?
I would have no faith in these bikes if I was 25kms from home out in the desert and I had a 100 snotty rocky climbs between me and home with a dead motor!

I Agree, when I picked up my bike they said they took it for a test ride and made sure everything was ok they forgot to mention the motor sounded like a swarm of angry killer bees anyway that was replaced under warranty as well as the battery lead I think they just want to get them out of the shop as soon as possible problem or not. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love my bike it's the second levo I've had I wouldn't swap it for the world
Hi, nothing but problems with my 2018 carbon Levo expert 3x motors 3x seat posts 2 batteries 2 control switch and a full refurb of the forks. Only had the bike 9 months in the shop for 45 days.
Specialized have offered the new 2020 Levo comp as a goodwill.

Having everything fixed when it breaks is fantastic but having a 100 mile round trip with a toll road each time starts to grind. The dealer and specialized have been ok with repairs but they don’t mention how long any repairs can take ( 18 days for new bushes on forks.

I had an error like that a couple of times, always when I tried to turn it on after already starting pedalling.

A minute rest and a reboot fixes it.

So I don't do that any more.

I did make sure to buy from a dealer 30 minutes away "just in case".

Must be so disappointing for you @Thewolfster hope you're sorted soon.

Nearly 100km in now and apart from this it's been great, so much fun.

@Thewolfster , they are not all bad bikes, my 2019 Expert has just over 1k Miles on it in 5 months with no issues. I also have a 17 Expert that had the motor and battery replaced at 18 months old, killed it on a very wet ride. again no hassle with the warranty, done whilst I waited on a Saturday morning. I am sure you will be fine on the next one.

Hi , I actually posted another message should have posted it here.

I got a new turbo levo this time from my LBS in Durham. Service was excellent ?
I have now done about 200km and loved every minute. Mostly in the rain and mud. I had the back wheel checked as was running a little off- true but only by a touch. The LBS sorteded it and they even changed the dropper post cable even tho it was fine. They said it was not how it should be.

I’m so glad I went and got another Levo, best purchase in my view just for being able to get something fixed or at least progressed without having to send to Germany ?? for example.

Loving the motor did 34km at hamsterley and still had 34% battery left ? needed to use the turbo more haha
