Gears, gears, gears...

This has more than likely been discussed before but any advice for a 10/11 speed 11-42t gear set?

I currently have the Sram EX1 8 speed (11-48t) on my Focus, initially it didn't bother me too much but now I'm finding the large gaps between gears frustrating, keeping a consistent cadence is impossible.

I have Shimano 11 speed on my Focus and it has been flawless so far over 830 miles.
Mech: Deore XT M8000
Cassette: SLX 11-46
Shifter: XT SL-M8000 - B-IR for right hand lever with I-Spec B mount. Or M8000 - R for right hand lever, own clamp

I had shimano 11 xt/slx speed & didn’t think you needed anything else (also had di2 for a month too which was great, but I wouldn’t rush to buy it).
New bike came with S700 shifter/ GX mech & I love the single click action, it just feels so solid. Multi shift by double/triple tapping with ease, if it lasts, I’m a sram convert.
I know you can count on shimano for decent longevity, but not tried any modern sram to compare

Yes, all standard and it works just fine. After 7 weeks and 200 miles, I swapped out the shifter with the i-spec B mount for the one with its own clamp to get a better lever position for me.

I still have that i-spec B mounted shifter, if you want it. You can have it for half the cheapest price you can find from a UK supplier (CRC for ex) plus postage.
