New cable fitted with cable adjuster, can't understand why the original does not have adjustment unless its jammed.

Ahh I don't like external cables

I don't either, although lots of manufacturers do that as standard.

It's quite simple to drill a small hole and run the cable through it.

I would add that it's not normally wise to drill holes in handlebars but the bars on e-bikes are quite sturdy as weight isn't an issue.

Even so, if you are a heavier rider or a rider who likes big jumps and descending the north face of the Eiger, then maybe best not to get the drill out.
