Here's the finished build, under £3k for an ebike in this day and age is pretty decent! Had a quick spin in the car park and the M510 motor is way more punchy and responsive than the older one - and lighter!

Bike weight is exactly 24KG (with DH tyres!). Not too bad!

Is that the Cheeb V1 frame re-used? Or did you paint another one?
It’s a new frame. Dengfu painted it the same colour as my old one. They did a remarkable job considering they paint matched it from a video! On this new frame charger port is different location (side of frame instead of bottom of down tube) and the battery cover is has a clip to secure rather than 4 bolts 👍

I sold the old one on eBay last year 👍

Yeah I thought I remembered you mentioning that - it's why I was a little confused that it looked so similar.

Looking forward to a video about this build sometime in the future. I've just been watching the painting section of your Cheeb V1 video - very close to giving it a go myself on my upcoming VMG Typhon build. The only downside I can see is if the bearings ever have to get pressed out, and possibly catching on the paint.

Couple lads I know maybe not as adventurous as I am on bike. Have bikes in 2 grand range and they have never missed a beat . Realistically as much as I love the levo I think if i had to replace a motor or battery and actually pay for it I could tailor my cycling for a cheaper bike.

I tried to order one of these frames to the us last year when Rob did his first build and they weren't shipping here at the time. There was some corny company selling fully built versions with their ugly branding for like$6k 🙄

Definitly thinking of doing this, started to consider buying one of the main brand ones recently but I like DIY and this looks more fun. Thanks Rob, I love the fact that unlike some other ebike Youtube channels, you are not afraid to take a serious look at DIY alternatives and give an honest appraisals

Hi @Rob Rides EMTB ,
We are still hanging for the ride video, or was the motor experience so bad that you wouldn’t want to auction it off?

I'm wondering if he's having similar firmware issues to what's being discussed in the M510 thread?

I'm fortunate the frame manufacturer who supplied my frame managed to get a decent firmware on board. I'm finding the motor to be completely awesome.
