We pointed the bike into a really rocky descent and we were a bit surprised. We’re so used to long travel 29er emtbs being super stable bikes that will straightline “anything”. The Canyon Torque:On 8 was different though. In hindsight, that really was to be expected. The smaller 27.5″ front wheel has less rollover abilities compared a 29″ wheel. And the short rear end favours playfullness and a faster steering. Check out the video for the whole story.

I have the Spectral version so it has 29" front and less suspension but it's the same frame. It's lovely to ride downhill, even with only 150mm up front, however it can be hard to keep the front down on steep uphills unless you stay sat down. I might upgrade the suspension at some point to make it more like the Torque but I'm not sure it's needed unless you're only doing meaty DH trails all the time.
