Bultaco Brinco tech help needed, won't turn on with bracelet or card

Hi people I have a Brinco Discovery, which is jolly nice but now has a fault!
As the title suggests these have an NFC card in the dash and you must touch it with either the card or bracelet to turn the dash on and use the bike. Mine was working fine until last week and now doesn't react to the card or bracelet at all.... nothing!
The battery is fully charged and in good nick, the bike has always been kept indoors and doesn't get wet as I use in mainly in the summer and on gravel byways. So I think the NFC card might be the culprit, or maybe not, but all the dealers have closed down in the UK now and I think Bultaco themselves have gone out of business on the ebike side.
Does anybody have any diagnostic kit or suggestions, or know any dealer still servicing and repairing these bikes?

had the same problem, got the test wires and found the problem, it was the bike manager. because of bultaco is bancrupt it is very difficult to get spareparts also they are very expensive, was also in contact with the factory facomsa, they produced the bikemanager and also the speedometer for bultaco, but it took 5 emails and a long time until they answered and they only make wholesale not retail, very bad customer service. but i can recomment a a british guy who rebuilt bultaco just check in the internet, he have a fb and a website and is specialist in bultaco brinco. his website is www.yomotaco.com.
i changed my parts to kt controller and kt display, so i do not buy the bike manager anymore, but yomotaco is selling also plug abd play parts, better and cheaper as original bultaco. just check it out abd email him. hope i could help you.

I'd recommend you upgrade to the smooth power of a field oriented controller, torque throttle & proven display console.

Grin Phaserunner & Cycle Analyst & quality torque throttle would be best but jomotaco look like they've got excellent lower cost options.

how to wire the relay in the bultaco batterie with the grin
You'd need to swap battery connector to MT60 & use the Phaserunner MT & CA3-WP

MT60_c.jpg

The MT60 is a 3-pin version of the XT60 connector designed for the 3 phase wires of a brushless motor. This plug is more compact than 3 Andersons and can handle the ~100 amp peak phase current of a powerful ebike hub motor without melting. On the downside, you don't have the flexibility of swapping around the phases to experiment with different pinouts when trying to map a controller to a given motor. And, like the XT60 connectors, it is only available with solder lugs, there are no crimpable pins available so it is much slower to instal. We've adopted the MT60 connector as a molded panel mount plug in the updated 2017 Phaserunner devices because the compact size and high current specs allowed us to fit it inside the molding. And when we have customers who run into problems melting anderson plugs on higher power motor phase leads, we usually suggest a switch to the MT60.

thanks for the reply, i am using the 2 pin xt 60, didnt know that there is a 3 pin, good the 3. pin i could use for the 12v wire to the relay inside the battery pack, but the other problem is also i need a converter 60v to 12v and i do not know how many amperes the conferter have to have, because i only know that the relay is a 12 volt but know idea how many amperes you need for the relay. do you know how many ampere a relay needs. maybe 2amp is enough, but not sure. also not sure if i should take the voltage direct from the battery as a source or from the 48volt display source? any idea?

by the way jomotaco using bac controller which are more expensive than the grin, but he already make it plug and play, orogrammed and the correct plugs for bultaco brinco also they upgrade to 65-72 volt battery and 5kw motor, than the brinco runs over 80km/h. really like to switch but too expensive for me, if i had the money i would do it. so i have to stay with my chinese kt controller and display which is not bad at all and also full programmable

on the bultaco brinco its difficult to change electronic parts, because it have a canbus system and selfprotection system. it recognizes if you change a part like controller, display, bikemanager or battery and it goes to selfprotection and will not work anymore. only possibility to change all parts where is the canbus built in

Sorry that was the 3 phase motor connector.
This is the battery harness, XT60 the same as yours.

If the BMS is protected then it is very likely best to go with the Jomotaco parts unless you want to get another battery.

jomotaco helped me already to programm kt controller and display, wheel is running already but shut down after 2 sec., because i not yet wired the relay, which i have to do, because if the relay have no power the voltage sucks down and the bms shuts of the power. only problem is ti get 12v to the relay. but i am working on it and hope to get some more info from jomotaco how to do it.

Off the top of my head I don't know the battery pack voltage of your bike but You can get voltage converters (buck converters) for a few dollars on eBay. They are usually rated 60v high and have small potentiometer screw to reduce voltage to your desired level. Rated 2 or 3 amps.
here... DC-DC Buck Step Down Adjustable Converter 4.5-60V to 3.3V 5V 6V 9V 12V 24V 3A | eBay
they are really small about half the size of a credit card. Probably best to buy a couple as they are cheap. I've used them to power bike lights tapped into ebike battery harnesses. Just solder the wires on.

Have you checked the coaxial cable that connects the display to the box under the frame. I had the same problem and it turned to be the inline connector that is half way down the wire.
