My Vitus Sentier has a gap between the frame and the top of the motor at the front which means water and crud get into the space. I have made a bash plate out of a mudguard to protect the motor a little from rocks etc. which covers this gap. Am I likely to have any problems with the motor overheating as I assume the gap was to allow air to circulate and cool the motor?

I don't think so - I have a Sentier and have been looking into bashguards options - if I was based nearer to Rockguardz I would get it bet to them to knock one up, they have done a great one for the Cube Bosch's recently, but they need a bike to do the template from:

Cube E-bike Bash Plate Bosch CX 2017-19 - ROCKGUARDZ

I also have an E-Sommett which come with a bash guard, but not sure if it is interchangeable with the Sentier
