Well . . . if the rumours are true and we get the 640Wh battery . . . add this range extender and we almost have a 1kWh!!!!!

Is there any information on a new, bigger Levo battery that doesn't point back to this thread? I can't find anything.

I really hope there is a new battery and that it is backwards compatible because it may mean Bosch are doing something similar.

I bought my 2018 Levo in January also ordered a second battery at the same time. Specialized did not even have a SKU for the 504w battery at that time. Specialized Canada is waiting for there new shipment of batteries from China, supposedly they are going to show up some time this month. Maybe I will get lucky and get a 640w! Its been a long wait since January!
P.S. Specialized Canada were kind enough to send me another battery in the mean time to use! Congrats Specialized!

I went and spoke to my lbs about a levo fsr and got told a mid spec kenevo will be dropping in a week or two... Essentially the FSR Comp but with more travel. They said it looks great but couldn't/wouldn't show any pics. I'm now waiting for a call when they get one in the shop.

I’ve been told that there are two kenevo models dropping july 1st here in NZ. One at the same spec level as existing 2018 model, and a second lower spec one. Unfortunately, not carbon this year!

New Levo drops in August.

I hope some pic`s will be shown soon so if there will be a new LEVO or a KENEVO AL....so i can choose between waiting for the new one or buy the 2018 Model.

Hey Tori, Agree with you on what you say about the bigger capacity battery. We discussed this earlier on this thread, have a look from post 21 . I hope they do create and release a 640w or bigger. I wouldn’t mind carrying a bit of extra weight or the battery bulging out the front of the down tube a bit. The key thing for me and as you say you, is it is compatible with the older Levo’s.

Maybe this is the reason why I can’t find any new batteries for sale anywhere in the UK or Europe. Maybe they are about to release a 640 version. God only knows how much it is going to cost though...This is the problem with being an ‘Early Adopter’ it is always an expensive habit. ?????

Great to see you are in a good place on the range anxiety front ?

Unfortunately for me, I am not in the same place ?. If I could get 100km out of one battery charge I would be a very happy ebiker ? However, my work commitments, life style and riding style do not allow this.

I have too many hills where I ride and I am often under time constraints so I will never be able to get anywhere the range you are getting. If I wasn’t working then maybe I could squeeze a lot more mileage out of the 460Wh battery I have as I would have loads of time to play with. Unfortunately at the moment, l still need to work ☹️ to allow me to feed my habit of being a serial upgrader and ebike owner.

I use the BLevo App and this has definitely helped me with extracting more range out of the battery by experimenting with different motor output levels, different motor current levels etc. This allows me to turn down how many Watt Hours I use on Eco and Trail modes. I have Turbo set to 100% so I always have a ‘get out of jail free card’ to play whenever I feel the need.

A typical ride for me is between 1 and 1 and a half hours. My focus on my rides is to get an extremely good work out and also get up the climbs as quickly as I can so I can enjoy the descents which is what I have always loved about mountain biking. This 1 to 1 and a half hours is my escape and something I really enjoy. The only time I will go past this ride time is if I ride with a non ebiker. On these occasions I will easily get 4 hours as I can turn the assistance right down.

The point I am trying to make is..... We are all different and I am sure we all have different reasons why we purchased an ebike.

For me personally, I live 5 minutes away from my local trails. Owning an ebike allows me to complete a 1 hour ride in the morning before work starts and before other commitments kick in. In that hour I will cover 10-12 miles and climb between 1500 and 3000 feet. I can, and do sometimes carry out another similar ride after work and after a recharge sometimes on the same day.

We all have different needs and my need at the moment in my little world of ebikes is ‘I need a higher capacity battery’. This will support my current lifestyle with the benefit of more time out on the trails ?

I am surprised there are not more 3rd party Battery options out there - i think the Specialised battery has some of the brains in it of the system (?) which may make this harder, but cant see why no one has bought out a Shimano or bosch one. Also surprised someone hasn't tried repacking one, but i may be wrong on that.

OK still no news on a 2019 Levo, but interesting to keep the rumours and speculation going nonetheless.

So, what are we hearing? August for the launch, possible new battery but only colour updates are likely for 2019.

I’d like to see the battery pack snap in half. Make it modular, where you can run one small pack and one dummy pack. Or 2 small packs to make one normal pack. And then you can keep a small pack in your backpack, and 2 small packs on the bike. Which would be equal to 1 and a half packs to extend your range.
You could also run a small pack and a dummy pack and the whole thing would be lighter. For those times you only want to bash out 10-15km.

Two small packs (assuming half the size of the normal pack) wouldn't give the same range as one large pack due to voltage sag.

Ok ... the best option is the 252wh or 50% more capacity on your levo The complete set .. with the best cells Sanyo GA 3500 mah and the plug and ride system cost 495 € includes the new Specialezed cable 100€ ! Installation 15 min with pictures .. so I send some pictures now

His is wired into his bike, cant remember exact details but the extra battery is easily detachable via a plug.

Well . . . I just purchased a 2nd 504Wh battery. I'm getting the updated firmware on it, prior to having it shipped. I was really hoping for a larger capacity battery, but I have no concrete evidence of this. It's all just been piss in the wind speculation.

Even if I'm wrong, and there is a larger capacity battery released, I could always sell the 504's for a (small loss) and switch. I really just want to do some really extended rides, and also have a 2nd battery on hand for long days at local bike parks.

2019 Specialized Turbo Levo - What we know so far

So, Brose have just announced their all new, lighter, smaller motor. Surely this is going to be included in the new Levo. I've heard rumours by someone their is a chance of a bigger battery, that will arrive at the Expert level and over bike.

The Levo is Specialized most popular EBike and with stock of the current models dwindling down I'm sure we will see a huge demand for a 2019 bike. Current latest dates are looking August announce and ship in September.

On the Italian e bike forum there is a long thread on 2019 models (60 pages!) and someone on there correctly predicted the Kenevo line up but also said big changes to Levo but he couldn’t say more (according to google translate!)

Also some cracking other bikes mentioned on the thread, including a new shimano powered felt that looks pretty slick in terms of integration
