Hi All,

I hope all of you are well, I have just joined EMTB and looking for learning more from the experts.

I am still looking to get an E mountain bike with full suspension.

Living in Farnham with lots of good rides on my door step, I am excited to find the right bike for my budget.

Depending on my company agreeing to the ride to work scheme with green commute initiative. Depends on my budget!

With:- I will be looking at £4300 - £4999.

Without:- more like £3500.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Welcome - you will soon find that there are a lot of good E-Bikes out there at the moment, with new innovations seemingly coming at every bike show. It can get a bit bewildering at times with all the different motors and bikes out there, but lots of helpful advice on here!

At the lower end of your budget (and this is biased as i have one!) nothing comes close to the Vitus E-Sommet for the money, at the upper end theres a world of choice. E-Sommet thread here:

Vitus E-Sommet VR

One major thing to think about is where you will charge the bike - if you don't have a garage/ability to charge bike where you store it, then an easily removable battery will come in handy, as bikes with fully integrated or difficult to remove batteries you will usually have to charge with the battery in situ.

There is a shop in Coulsdon, probably an hour drive from you, called Cycling Made Easy, that has the biggest range of e-mtb's i know of. They don't have Specialised or Trek, but the usually have test models of various brands with Shimano, Bosch, and other motors, and stock Focus, Haibike, Scott, Cube and other brands, so might worth a trip as you will be able to play around with a lot of the available systems. Really nice staff too who know everything about e- bikes too. They can do the ride to work scheme with green commute initiative

The UK's Electric Bike Experts at Cycling Made Easy

Most Evans will have Specialized or Trek, i know the Gatwick Evans, which is part of their main warehouse, has a big E-Bike selection you can test, as has the full suspension Specialized and Trek bikes on site to demo.

Great info @R120

@SGH - as you’re in Farnham I’d definitely recommend paying www.e-bikeshop.co.uk a visit as that’s where they’re based. They do Haibike, Moustache, Lapierre, Scott and a few others.

You’ve got a great budget to play with, I agree with R120 about the Vitus. It looks like an amazing bike for the money.

R120 thank you for the heads up with Coulsdon, I also have the e-bike shop in Farnham which I have been to. I have just looked at the Vitus E-sommet. Looks good.

I have a garage with power and looking to kit the garage out, making room for the new wheels!
I have been on a moustache Samedi 27 race 6 2018 bosch & a Specialized Levo FSR Comp Carbon 6Fattie 2018 Electric Mountain Bike, only round a car park! both seemed to be good.

I cannot wait for my company to tell me if I can or not have the RTW scheme. I then can start narrowing it down!

In the running if the RTW doesn't happen is:- Specialized Levo FSR 6Fattie 2018 from Evans, £350 trade in, or now the Vitus.

Too many options!

Once again thanks.

Hi Rob,

Martin has been really helpful at e-bike shop farnham . The Moustache race looks a nice bike.

I have seen your youtube videos and your Levo looks nice. Lots of good reviews on them as well. I like the idea of a clean bar and the option to connect with bluetooth on the Levo. Off the back of one of you video's I popped into Pedal Heaven in Fleet. Really helpful guys.

If you do go for the Vitus don't forget CRC offer 10% discount for BC members. BC membership starts at £23 paid online and the discount code is available pretty much as soon as you register. Membership also gets you 10% off anything at Halfords.

For me the frame was actually very difficult to beat on geometry and suspension design no matter what price range I looked at. I was particularly surprised to find the BB height is actually decently low. Something very few bike manufacturers are brave enough to do and even rarer with Emtbs
Also unbelievable spec for the price. many non electric Enduro bikes come far lower spec'd at that price.

Hi Gary,

I have just been looking at the bike in more detail. As you say. Nothing I have seen comes close.

Do you have one?

I have been trying to find video’s reviews on it, unfortunately I am struggling to find anything on it!

The motor seems to get good reviews.

It looks like a winner.

I have. I've typed quite a lot of my thoughts about mine on the Vitus E-Sommet thread here. any specific questions. ask over there and I'll be happy to try and answer. I tend to be pretty honest in my views on bikes.

I am based in Reigate, which isn't far from you - you are more than welcome to pop over and have a look at mine

Thank you R120, I have been catching with wiggle, they have just informed me they will not be getting anymore in!
Really appreciate the offer to look at yours, if I cannot get one, seem no point, thank you though.

I am now looking for the next best bike!
Which motor and what travel etc...

I checked they only have the small!
I have just ridden the Specialized Mens Turbo Levo FSR Comp Carbon 6Fat 2018 in the red/black. Lovely looking bike. Rob Hancill has done a great youtube review on the matt black.

I think this is the one.
